Hi Paul I only recently found James - the Ancestry millennium file was helpful & I managed to get some census info too. James Andrew SHAW (& I only found the Andrew bit from the US info) b c 1858 (from 1851 & 1861 census info -no certs sighted) - 03 Oct 1857 from IGI @ Kilmarnock Scotland d 5 Oct 1946 Cambridge Ohio USA -Ancestry Millennium file m c 1890 Helen MURRAY b 1858 & d 1932 children: James McMurray SHAW, Hellen M SHAW, John SHAW, David C B SHAW - not born in that order. family went to USA in 1907 - Ohio - according to Ancestry the name Gabriel does not appear in the family. they seem to have used these names for the next generation as well (ie John's children's names were used in each of their families too). I have been looking for John SHAW's death in & around Kilmarnock/ Glasgow areas. Jan Paul Shaw wrote: > What year was James born and where did he die ? Jan, I don't recognize any of these names, I hope some day to find Gabriel's father believed to be born Scotland or Ireland. I think his father would have been born in the mid 1700's. His name is assumed to be Joseph or James or John, no one know's for sure. Good luck in your search. Hi, Dottie. I am researching my husband's Shaw line in Charles County, in southern Maryland. I am having problems tracing my husband's line past his GGGrandfather, William S. Shaw, who was believed to have been born about 1793, and who died in 1862 in Charles County. He was married to Innocence Wilkerson. We are not sure where he was born, but his parents are believed to be William and Pricilla Shaw. Do you have any further information that might match up with this Shaw line? My husband's elderly aunt had a note in her personal papers found after her death that stated "John Shaw came to Lancaster County, VA in 1705, he was surgeon to Capt. Robert Tayloe of London, brother of the second William Tayloe." Since we are having so much trouble finding a local connection to this Shaw line, we thought that, perhaps, we should start looking across the river in Lancaster County, VA. Do you have any information on your line coming from VA? I would be happy to share my information with you if you will e-mail me directly at dmcshaw@hughes.net. Thanks. Denise C.
