According to nothing but rumor, the three brothers were raised by: David and Margaret Shaw of Virginia.? His parents are: Robert T. Shaw & Mary Shepherd both born in England. Robert John Shaw married Sarah Jane Clark b: 1815 Morley, ?, England. They Married on 13 June 1836 in Yorkshire, England. Robert John Shaw died about 1853 in Smithfield, Jefferson Co., Ohio. I am wanting more information on his parents as well as why Robert came to American so late in his life from Rngland. I am trying to trace my Shaw ancestors back to England, any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated. He was born about 1775 possibly in New York. He married Tharsa Stimson/Stimpson on 28 Nov 1799 in Shirley, Mass. Tharsa was also born 1775 in Mass. Known children are: Louisa who married Nicholas Counts, Mariah who is possibly the wife of George Washington McPike, Adoniram married to Catherine Whetstine, and John S. married to Julina Birden. All the children were born in New York, Otsego Co. They lived in St. Genevieve Co. Missouri in the early 1820's and eventually moved to Lawrence and Sharp Co.'s AR. Tharsa died in Arkansas. I have been unable to find anything about William. He was not with John or Adoniram in Arkansas. Thank you for any help. My most recent SHAW ancestor is Delilah, who married Drury KING in Wake Co, NC, in 1810. She is believed to be a daughter of Joseph SHAW who was a veteran of the Revolutionary War and lived afterward in Johnson and Wake Counties in NC. I do not know the name of Joseph's wife, but she might have been Elizabeth Jernigan of Johnson Co. We do know that Joseph was the son of Hugh SHAW, as there are deeds of land from Hugh to his sons William and Joseph in Wake Co. Joseph enlisted in the army in Bucks Co, Pennsylvania, and Hugh is found in some records there. A Hugh SHAW married Margery HOUGH in November 1755, and I assume she was Joseph's mother, as he was born in 1758, according to his pension application. I do not know the date of Margery's death. I can find no clues to Hugh's parents or his place of birth. I have underlined the information I am seeking, and any help or additional information about these people will be greatly appreciated.
