I have no information on the family of Arthur Shaw, only that he witnessed the marriage of his son Thomas Shaw to Sarah Rebecca Jane Holland December 17, 1881 in Mode,Shelby County Illinois. Then his son, Thomas Shaw and Sarah had one child, George W. Shaw, whom I believe was named after Sarah's father George W. Holland. George Shaw was my great grandfather. Thomas Shaw disappeared within a year or two of the marriage and then Sarah Rebecca Jane Holland Shaw married a Mr. McClanahan and had a bunch of kids with him. George W. Shaw and his wife, Niza Ginther settled in Linneus, Linn Co. Missouri and there is record of Grampa Albert Shaw and his wife Elisabeth Wolford in Linneus, Linn County, Missouri with grandson George W and his wife and children. I have not been able to go back further than Arthur Shaw. One record I have shows Albert Shaw married Mary Miller and one record I have shows he was married to Elisabeth Wolford. Of course he could have been married to both. He, along with the rest of the Shaws are in Missouri by the early 1900's. If you think this might be any relation to what you have I would be interested. Again, I don't have any background on Albert but if you think it might be the same as your Arthur? Thanks for your response. My Grt Grandfather, Henry Shaw, came out to NZ (not sure when havent found him on shipping lists. He was born in Sheffield abt 1842/44 to A John and Sarah Shaw. John was a knifemaker or cutler (info on Henry's death cert). I have no other info and would dearly like to find some on John and Sarah. I have found several families on the 1841 census that could be them but have an idea that the family may have come out to Australia and then on to NZ but only a hunch. I have no Shaw family to ask. Does anyone know of a family that may have emigrated or of a John and Sarah that had a Henry who emigrated ? Would be very grateful for any help. E. Shaw of Hobart, Oklahoma, walked into the office of Warden Jewett at the state penitentiary and gave himself up as a prisoner. Shaw informed the warden that he had been convicted and sentenced to the penitentiary for four years for manslaughter and that he came alone in order to save expenses. He had a letter from the county attorney of his county telling of his sentence. Warden Jewett informed Shaw that he could not be received as a prisoner without commitment papers, and the warden telegraphed to Lawton where the trial took place to have the papers sent. Shaw had no money to pay for lodging at the hotel and Warden Jewett arranged for him to stay at the prison farm pending the arrival of the regular commitment papers. It is said that Shaw with others living in his neighborhood were annoyed by a band of rowdies at night and in a fight to rid the neighborhood of the disturbers, Shaw shot and killed one of them. The sympathy of the O! klahoma officials seems to be with Shaw as shown by the letter of the county attorney and their confidence in trusting him to come to the penitentiary alone to surrender himself. Looking for a Jeremiah Shaw born btwn 1820 and 1835. Supposedly he was from the Norwich, NY area but I have my doubts. He married Margaret Ann WHITNEY in 1855 in central NY state.
