    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: bobshaw144 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.shaw/6748/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My grandfather Edward Shaw, son of John and Sarah Shaw of Bootle (Hyton), I have traced back to my GG Grandparents, John Shaw born 1791/2 and Ann (Gawith ??)Born 1796 both in Cumberland. Both Johns are listed as either Yeoman or farmer - what is the difference? Address is Hyton which I beleive is near Bootle and in the Bootle Parish. Both are listed in the 1841 Census, 1851 and later, but I am having trouble finding any information from earlier in history. Any help woould be appreciated, I have the Paarish registers from Bootle on CD and have ordered a copy of the CD Visitation of Cumberland 1615. I am on total disability and this is one of the few things I can do and I am now hooked and want to find out all I can. My wife and I also hope to travel to England and Ireland (for her side) in the near future, but want to find out more aabout the area first. Any information would be appreciated. sorry if I seem scrambled, I guess I am. Thanks, Bob Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. Am trying to find more information on Daniel SHAW who was on the 1800 Tax list for Mercer Co., KY along with WILLIAM SHAW and THOMAS SHAW. This Daniel Shaw was wed twice...1st wife is unknown and 2nd wife was Elizabeth "Patsy" PIPES. Daniel's children by 1st wife: Zachary, Elizabeth, Wiley, Theophilus, Leban (or Seburn) and Simeon. Author: kasbes Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.shaw/81.703.1344.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Pat, I know your post is almost 8 years old, but I'm hoping you're still around... We are researching William Henry Shaw Sr. and are at a dead end as to finding out exactly where he was born and who his parents were. I couldn't believe when I read your post, we're definitely talking about the same person. We know about his Civil War service and the Masons, but had no idea he might have been 1/2 Indian. What we know: WH Shaw Sr. was born in Louisiana in 1835 (according to his Confederate Civil War application), fought in the 8th Alabama Co. C. He settled in Accomack Co., VA, married Tabitha Martin in 1866, and had the following children: John W., George T., Elizabeth, Carrie, unk. name born 1875, Sarah Jane "Sadie," William H. Jr., Mattie, Emma, Edward and Louis. Based on info from a distant cousin I met on this board, I believe William H. Sr.'s son John W. married Sallie White, John and Sallie's son Elwood Shaw married Emaline Fluhart. This has to be the same line as yours. My husband is descended from William H. Jr., to his son Etmon, to his son Wayne (my father-in-law). I would love to hear from you if you're still on this board, whether or not you've found out more info on William Henry Shaw Sr. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
