Most family members believe it was Joseph Shaw. But I can't find any records of them in the same household. I have a tree on Ancestry if you think you might be able to find a connection. Hello, I am new to this list. I am trying to locate a copy of the James H Mitchell bible, which was bought by Robert Shaw, husband of Margaret Mitchell and daughter of James. They bought it at the estate sale when James died in 1851 for $1.25. Robert Shaw immigrated from England to Andrew County, Missouri and married Margaret in 1849 there. Robert died in 1895 and is buried in the Savannah City Cemetery. I assume a descendant of his has the bible. I am willing to share information on this family. Thanks! Kathie -- M. Hello, I am trying to locate the James H. Mitchell bible, which was bought by his daughter, Barbara and her husband, Robert Shaw for $1.25 in Andrew County, Missouri in the year 1851. Robert Shaw was from England, and married Barbara 1849 in Andrew County, Missouri. He died there in 1895 and is buried in the Savannah City Cemetery in Andrew County. I would assume that a Shaw descendant might have that Bible and I would dearly love a copy of the genealogy pages. I am willing to share my genealogy with any relatives. Kathie -- M. Kathleen, Wish I could help, my family didn't come to this country until 1902 when my grandfather came or his brother who came a little before him. My family is the Shaw family from Hyton of Bootle parish, Cumberland, England. I am the first Robert Shaw in our family that I know of. Best of luck in your search, should I hear of anything I'll send it to you. Bob -----Original Message----- From: shaw-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:shaw-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of M. According to the 1850 census Martha Metzler (Shaw) was born in Ohio (family records said Pennsylvania). She was married to Levi Shaw (according to family records was born in New Jersey in 1802). Their first two children, Almond and Samantha, were born in Ohio about 1830 and 1832. The 1860 census has different information, but Almond continued to state he was born in Ohio in later years.
