I have SS information on David Bramwell Shaw, son of Shepard Manzer Shaw and Sylvia A. Steeves,b Sep. 24 1893 in NH, moved to MA. He turned out not to be the person I was looking for. Does anyone want this information?
Solmonoid, I'm afraid I do not know. All I know is that he was married to Eliz. Ann Rennie and had at least one son named Hugh John born around 1879 and he lived in Clydebank, Scotland. regards Meg@bluepin.net.au

I too am looking for a Samuel Shaw, middle name believed to be Edward. Born 1838 to 1843 in Oh. Was in Lafayette Co. Mo. before 1870, married to Cynthia Pierce. Could both of you post birth , death dates and spouse names? Thanks Vivian ----- Original Message ----- From: JM & BJ BROWN <ebrown@trailnet.com> Subject: Re: [SHAW-L] Shaw,IL > You mention a Samuel Shaw. Jesse A. Shaw was born in Ohio ~1810 and Mary Harris was born in Kentucky in 1813. They married in Franklin County Indiana in 1834. By 1850, they lived in Hancock County, Indiana and had children Charlotte F. (~1835), Benjamin F. (~1836), John R. (~1840), Mahala (~1843), Ruth A.(~1846), Phariby (~1848). In 1860, they were in Wisconsin with only children Hulda (1849) and Jesse A. Jr. (1855). When Mary died in Washington State in 1894, her survivers were listed as Hulda and Jesse and another child (un-named) east of the mountains (the rockies). Mary had reportedly lived with a child in Iowa on two different occasions. In 1916, Jesse Jr. had correspondence from a cousin, Sadie (no last name given) in Sanger, California. I do not have any verifiable connections to either Jesse Shaw or Mary Harris's families. There are family stories that Mary had relatives in Southeastern Washington when she moved there with her two youngest children in 1878. If this rings any bells in your Shaw history, I would sure like to hear about it. Larry Shaw

See if you can find out what religion they were. Many Scots were moved to Ireland to help convert the Catholics to the "Church Of Ireland" (Episcopal) and Shaw is originally a highland Scots name. Perhaps they didn't like her marrying out of her faith. Please -let me know how to contact the Abraham Shaw Family Association(or group, or whatever it is called)After several years I have finally found from which Shaw family MY Shaw family is descended!! And, as it turns out, we are descendants of Abraham, along with thousands of others. My husband and I have the opportunity to visit England next summer and would like to meet the group, if they are having another of their reunions there. Thank you. Elizabeth(Shaw)V.
Dear List: Found (today) a fine site that links to lists of various subjects concerning England of yore. Find about ancient places and royalties, and much-much more. I found it while searching for St. Christophers, where an ancestor was married in the 1500's. http://nav.webring.yahoo.com/hub?ring=Renaissance&list
Viola; The family assumes, Irish, and the census showed that Esther stated she was born in Ireland in 1810. However, we do not know the name of Mr. Shaw....the story is that her family did not approve of him but they married anyway. When they left for America, her family came to the ship and and told her to hold out her hands and they filled her hands with money. They did continue to correspond because she was asked to come home for a visit with the children and she refused to go because she was afraid they wouldn't let her come back. In the Logan County, IL land sales, an Esther Shaw bought quite a few parcels and there was also a Samuel Shaw purchasing.... but I have never found Esther's husband's name. Perhaps Mr. Shaw was English and that was the reason her family did not like him???? Nancy Casteel King CASTEEL, UNDERWOOD, BACON, MCGARVEY, PHILLIPS, SHAW GUNN
Carmen.... I'm looking for an 'Abner Shaw'.... What years do you have? However, according to family folklore, my Abner went to Canada....perhaps not. He would have been born in the New York/Vermont/MA/NH area. Any connections? Thanks in advance.
