Donna, I'm looking for info on Elizabeth Hamilton who came from Guilford Co. NC then moved to TN. There she married Robert Shaw of Sumner Co. TN. Do you know of any Shaw's in the Guilford Co. area approximately around the mid 1700s? Robert and Elizabeth's children were: Thomas, William, Sarah, Jane, Susanna, Elizabeth and Anna.
Posted on: Shaw Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/FamilyAssoc/Shaw/226 Surname: Shaw ------------------------- I recently received a copy of the Civil War pension record for a Joseph Shaw, thinking perhaps there was a link to my Eastman surname (an E. Eastman was listed as guardian). Since I could find no mention of Eastman in the record, I would be happy to forward it to a Shaw researcher. His widow was Jane Courtier (sp)and their children were listed as Samuel b. 12-11-1851; Charles Henry b. 4-27-1853; Sally Ann b. 8-31-1860; at one point there were six children under the age of six, and Jane was having difficulty collecting widow's pension because she could not produce a marriage certificate. Joseph was in Co B 8th regiment of Wisconsin Volunteers.

Wondering if this Joseph Shaw is connected to Noble & Ciscilly Nordyke Shaw of Guilford Co., NC. Noble, b c1786, was the son of Benjamin Shaw. I am sorry I cannot supply any more dates at the moment, my main computer is in the shop and my world connect site is off line at the moment. I believe Benjamin came down from NJ, they were a quaker family. My line ended up in Indiana. Born about 1823, somewhere in Ohio....I have a letter from Elam Fairchild that refers to himself and his wife as Aunt and Uncle....Elam(wifes maiden name Wilcox) wrote (about 1860): Ira lives at home and is not married. Your sister Rebecca and her husband are both dead. Your father, I haven't seen him for 5 years. I understand he is living at Orange. Charles and Mary I understand, moved West, but where, I don't know..... Can anyone shed a clue who John's father might be?? Mary in Ca.
