Thank you so much for the nice words of welcome I have received from so many of you. I have been on the SHAW list for a few years now, but under different email addresses. I haven't yet found my elusive SHAW family, but am still working on it! :) I also administer one other list on Rootsweb. I like the way the SHAW list has been running, and see no reason to make any changes at the present time... with one possible exception. I have been considering having [SHAW-L] put in the subject line on all the list mail so we can see at a glance which list the mail originated from. My thought was that this would be a help to the folks (like myself) who are on many different lists. Is that agreeable to the majority of list members? If there is general agreement, I will make that change. If not, we will keep it the way it is now. We will continue with the 'Country of the Week" that Shirley started. If there's no great objection, we will be going back to the 'State of the Week' once we have finished the countries. I for one noticed people posting to the state queries who I had never seen post information to the list before. I figure that by this time, people may have added some new tidbit of information to their genealogy, and it would be nice to have that information posted to the list. Does anyone have any other ideas? Those of us who are still looking KNOW that the information we seek exists out there somewhere...and it is just a matter of finding it. Much gratitude to Shirley Scott for making this such a great list, where everyone can post their SHAW genealogy information without fear of being flamed. That tradition will continue. Many thanks, Shirley! I will try not to mess up what you have accomplished here too badly. 3. Anne, your ideas sound fine. And I want to add my thanks to Shirley. I have been on this list for less than six months, but with wonderful results. I found my Shaw line relatives after futile searching for a couple of years. I am convinced that web searching is more fruitful than it used to be, and that it is getting better.
