    3. Mary, Do you know what the A stands for as Hugh's middle initial? Deb From: MJones9908@aol.com Reply-To: SHAW-L@rootsweb.com To: SHAW-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [SHAW] Shaw Book Look Ups Date: Thu, 15 Feb 2001 23:00:04 EST Dale, I have been searching for a Hugh A. Shaw who came with parents to Maryland, he was quite young. Parents are unknown as well as where they came from. He had several children, unknown wife, only know 1 son's name, Victor, was said that he was the only child who stayed in Pipe Creek, Maryland, the others moved to N & S Carolina. Victor had 17 children, his son William was born in 1770 Frederick-town, MD. he married Nancy Waddel (?sp) in 1802 from here on I pretty much know. Hugh A was born about 1692 and came to America in 1700, Victor was born in 1740, he and Sarah had 17 children, supposedly 11 boys and 6 girls. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for doing this for so many! 3. James prob. lived in Franklin Co. He was a resident of Reynoldsburg in 1952, and old enough to sign a relative's death cetificate in North Carolina. I would rule out men born after 1935, or before 1880. If you know their ethnicities, you can rule out a bunch of them. James wasn't white. My mother has a cousin who also married a man by the last name of Shaw but so far we haven't connected the two families. They live in Pekin, Ill. If you would like me to I could forward your message on to her and maybe there is some connection there. 3. Hi List, I am looking for any connection or any kind of information on a Thomas Shaw born between 1760-1770 in NC and Elizabeth Cave or possibly Cane born between 1790-1800 in NC. My gg-grandfather Alfred Shaw stated in pension papers that he was born in Guilford County about 1837 and his brother Doctor Newton Shaw states in his pension papers that he was born in Salem, Guilford County about 1841. His death certificate lists Thomas Shaw and Elizabeth Cave or Cane as his parents. The 1840 Guilford County census lists a Thomas M. Shaw who I believe may be related to my Alfred. I have no idea where Thomas may have been before 1840. First names associated with these Shaws are Thomas, William, several John's, Solomon, several Albert's, Gaston, several Mary's, several Martha's, Laura, James Wiley, John Baptist, Elizabeth and others. Alfred and his brothers and sister were in Ashe County by 1850. Any kind of information would be appreciated. David

    2. Bessie, Do you know the middle name of your John D. Shaw? My grandfather, John Dwight Shaw lived in Afton, N.Y. and I have been unable to locate further back than his father, William S. Shaw & grandfather B. D. Shaw. - I think the "Dwight" may have been a family name, but have been unable to locate any "Dwight" Shaws. Jean Cromwell

    3. Hello, I also have a photo copy that I did of that book. the only thing is I don't have the index, so it makes my searches a little harder. Dale would you be willing to send me a copy of the index pages? I would go back to the library but I work 50 plus hours a week now. I will try to help with as many of the look ups I can Jaime Shaws in Texas
