    1. [SHAW] Shaws-Canada
    2. Susan Gardner
    3. Family lore said that some of my SHAW family came from Canada or spent time in Canada...no province mentioned, etc. But closest I could find was a Ruthe Stevens Ayers/Ayres who wed Sampson Wilbert Shaw March 22, 1855 in Appanoose Co., Iowa. Ruthe was born January 25, 1814 in (?) Canada, and she first wed Eli Ayers and had 6 children, then wed Sampson W. Shaw and had one or two children. Would like to find some record of birth for the first child, Abel Shaw born August 4, 1853 in Centerville, Appanoose Co., Iowa. (Was Abel's mother someone who died?) Ruthe wed Sampson in 1855, (have marriage cert). 2nd child was Grace Isabel Shaw born about 1856 in Caldwell, App. Co., Iowa and can find no trace of her in the 1860 census with this family. This family moved west to Baker, Oregon then to Columbia Co. Washington then on to the Okanogan Co., Washington. Any help on information on Abel would be appreciated. Susan Gardner

    1. [SHAW] William Shaw, Lansdowne, Ont 1800's
    2. Joseph M Shaw
    3. My ggg gf, William Shaw, born prob. Co. Armagh, had 3 children born in Co. Wexford, took his family to Lansdowne, Ont. in 1820. His wife, Lady Mary Waldron, daughter of Sir John Waldron, Earl of Cushendall and Mary Lauder, died on the ocean trip. Have documented two of the children, Susan Shaw, 1810 - 1899, married John McNickle and had two daughters: Mary married Thomas Storey and Susan married John Phillips. Both lived in Escott. After John McNickle died, Susan Shaw married Thomas Abram. The second child, my gg gf, Thomas Shaw, 1816 - 1901, married Mary Davis. They settled in the wilderness in Marble Rock, above Gananoque and had ten children. Among them: William H. Shaw, Edward my g gf, Susan, Margaret, Isabella, Sarah, Eliza Ann, Robert & Thomas (one missing). The third child has been very elusive. I have clues that he may be another William or possibly Robert, but have not been able to located him. My grandfather told me he had cousins in St. Catherines. It seems one Robert Shaw moved ther long ago and started a large family there. He may be the one, or possibly the son of Thomas. Related families in Ontario were, Alton, Davis, McNickle, Phillips, Storey, McConnell, Boulton, McNish, Day, Steacy, Kelly, Kenny, Johnston, Thompson, Davison, Kaiser, Trickey, Gilroy, Griffin, Yule, Adams. Would like to hear from anyone with family info. Joseph Merrick Shaw, East Syracuse, NY

    1. [SHAW] Shaw's from British Columbia
    2. Melanie & Rob
    3. Hi all. I am still desperately searching for any info on my Shaw line. I am looking for info on my great great grandfather, Robert Shaw. I have no idea where he was originally from but he ended up in/around Nanaimo, British Columbia and in/around Sechelt, British Columbia. He married a Native woman who we think was named Mary. They had at least one child named Mary Eliza Shaw. Robert Shaw was said to have been from Hawaii but I do not have any proof of this and don't actually believe it to be true. I have found nothing in Hawaii to support this information. I do have a picture of his daughter, Mary Eliza, and she appears to be more Black than Native but I know for sure that her mother was Native. Robert's daughter, Mary Eliza, married a man named William Blank. They lived in the Nanaimo, B.C. area for most of their lives as far as I can tell. If anyone even remotely thinks any of this sounds familiar, please contact me. Thanks to you all. Melanie mletsos@direct.ca
