    1. Re: [SHAW] Shaw Family History Book?
    2. Betty
    3. Mary; there were several Shaw's living in Prince Georges, in fact, I have three documented parents to my Charles SHAW, who was born about 1749. Since I do not have access to the records, I may never know who his parents were. He married Keziah BEALL in about 1774-1775. They had six sons and perhaps one daughter born in Prince Georges and Montgomery Cos., MD. A Seventh son was born in Shenandoah Co., VA. Four of these sons went to Ohio and were in Licking Co., Ohio, in 1820. The names of the known children, year of birth, wife or wives and where they died are: [1] Alexander SHAW born 1776, MD, married Mary BARCLAY, died in Fulton Co., Illinois; 10 children. [2] Zachariah SHAW, b. 1777, Marium ...... died Licking Co., Ohio; 7 known children. [3] Osborn SHAW, b 1792, m. Catherine HILL, died Muskingum Co., Ohio; nine known children. [4] Charles Wesley SHAW, b. 1794, Shenandoah Co., VA. Married 3 times Anna COON, Anna WOOD and Elmyra HARBORT ; died 1872 Scotio Co., Ohio; 18 or 19 children.- The following names suggested, for the other sons; Ralph, James and Major SHAW. dates of their birth not known. I have seen a couple entries showing Major and James SHAW in Ohio, but I have not found them there. There are both James and Ralph SHAWs in my family; but not in this generation. I found a tomb stone in a Prince Georges MD, book listing a Zachariah son of James SHAW and Elizabeth BEALL SHAW. If yoy short ou the families of SHAW and BEALL, I would sure like to see it. 2. Deb, Sorry I haven't replied until now but have been out of town. Where was the get together held? There are few Shaw's in my line starting with Meshac who was in Iowa, however I did find one other of his son's and his line. I would love to communicate more and try to find a connection, as it does seem to unlikely to have so many Hugh A's also just Hugh's. Feel free to contact me. Mary K. Shaw Jones Tennessee

    2. Anne
    3. Looking for information on an Elizabeth SHAW, b. abt 1869. Sometimes went by Lydia or Lida. I know it's pitiful...but this is pretty much all the information I have....and it has taken 10 years to collect this much! Probably any family that she had on the east coast (she passed through Oneida, NY in 1885/1886) never knew her as Lydia or Lida. Those seem to be names she 'adopted' once she left the east and ended up in Kansas. It certainly appears she never had any communication with her birth family again once she left New York. Anyone have an Elizabeth SHAW, born in the right time frame, who just disappeared from the radar? I am clutching at straws here people. I KNOW that someone somewhere has the information I seek. Anne

    3. Evelyn; I am very interested in your Shaw information. I have been searching for over 10 years for my lineage, i made it to my second great grandfather Samuel Shaw and his wife Cynthia ( has been found as Sedan Maecynthia and Cyntia at various times) Pierce.they were in Lexington, Lafayette Co.Mo for the 1880 census and I have them well documented after 1880. My Sam was born 1838-1843 either in Va. or Oh. They had the following children, Ida Mae, Mary Jane, Edward, Emma (Eve) William, Charles and Annie. Do you have any other spouses names or children? 1. Re: [SHAW] Thomas Shaw Inverness Scotland
    2. Lee Bartos
    3. Dear Deborah, My mother was interested in genealogy, and before her death in 1929 she kept notes on her family. Her grandmother was Mary Winefred Shaw, daughter of Robert Charles Coatsworth Pinckney Shaw. He was born in Bedford Co. TN son of Christopher Columbus Shaw, who was the son of Thomas. Also, I have found that the Shaws of Rothiemurchus were from the area just above Inverness (A History of Clan Shaw by Maj. C. J. Shaw of Tordarroch). I have not yet located where he landed, or ship he sailed upon - nor have I ever discovered any siblings who perhaps came with him. He died 1805 in Bedford Co. TN. My mother left a report written on lined paper, her handwriting indicates she was a child, on her father's Shaw lineage, and she stated that they were of the Shaws of Rothiemurchus. The story is very bloody, and I doubted it was really true when I read it first. Imagine my surprise when I found the same story in Maj. Shaw's book - almost word for word. I wish I could have known my great grandmother Mary Winefred Shaw Ford, or her mother Sarah Ann Morris Shaw - they sound fantastic, but they were dead long before I was born, and nearly everybody else was dead by the time I became interested in genealogy!! Hope this helps. Keep in touch if you find any connection to my Thomas. 2. I have a Joseph Shaw who went to Missouri, and by family word of mouth, he was the principal of the or a Lexington, MO schools. He was born c 1820, and married Aramilla Wright. I don't know of any children. I also have a Samuel R Shaw, b 1840, son of Robert Shaw and Catherine Reeds, probably born in St. Charles, MO. I haven't spent much time researching them yet, since they're not my direct line. Evelyn Mason
