    1. [SHAW] Nathaniel Shaw information
    2. Nathaniel SHAW is on the 1850 census for Angelica, Allegany Co. NY with the following family: Nathaniel age 57 b Mass Freelove age 47 b NH Sally age 19 b NY Helen ? age 14 b NY Marian age 11 b NY ??? age 6 b NY On the 1820 the 1830 and the 1840 Census reports for this location Nathaniel Shaw is listed and those reports indicate Nathaniel had two older children names but I do not know their names. Nathaniel died in Angelica, Allegany Co. NY in December 1850. I want to find more on Nathaniel and the maiden name of Freelove. But most importantly I need the names of his two older children to confirm if this is the individual that MAY be my GGG Grandfather. If one of the older children is Angeloah SHAW it is almost certain he is. I have quite a bit of infor on Angeloah SHAW after 1850 but I need his parents. I will share this with anyone interested in the this line. Thank You very much Frank Puzzledfrank@aol.com

    1. [SHAW] SHAW, MACKEY, KNOX Ireland>US late 1700's
    2. My Mackey & Shaw & knox families initially were at Warren Point, Ireland. (3 hours N. of Dublin on the E. coast; luvly). I went over last year. They came to American ca. 1750ish, and both names (ladies) have long ago fanished into the names of the husbands. In Ireland the family lived in a beautiful Caslte, who ruins still stand, beside and more recent (100 years old) Castle now owned by someone else. Such is the history of a family over 300 years. 1. [SHAW] Fictitious Family Discovery genealogy service
    2. Paul Smith
    3. I'm forwarding this from another list to which I belong. I know it is a bit off topic but it's genealogy related and important enough that everyone should be aware. ***************************************** Subject: [PAERIE] Genealogy Spam Update Date: Fri, 09 Mar 2001 07:28:46 -0800 From: Linda To: PAERIE-L@rootsweb.com It looks like the fictitious Family Discovery genealogy service has moved to Prodigy now. I contacted Prodigy this morning and they have asked that anyone who receives solicitation email from familydiscovery.com to take the following steps immediately: 1) Forward the entire Family Discovery message to: abuse@prodigy.com 2) Include the following information (most of which was provided by Rita from the Oconto County, WI list): Please note that the attached message is now being sent through your ISP service. They have been reported to various State Attorney General's Office on computer fraud, but it is hard to catch up with them. Originally the "company" linked to free information sites and placed the pages in "frames" so that it looked like it was their own work. Customers paid for that information. The scam, now, is paying for the free information links and then they "move" frequently and leave their paid-up customers without services. 3) Post these same instructions on any other lists today so that Prodigy has a better chance of finding the spammers. -- Linda Emerson Coordinator - Union Township, Erie County, Pennsylvania http://www.rootsweb.com/~paerie/townships/Union.htm ----- Original Message ----- From: lj <ljuhl@aye.net> To: <MORGAN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, March 15, 2001 10:56 PM Subject: [MORGAN] genealogy fraud-- what to do? > Recently some of my lists reported on genealogy fraud > about a company claiming to do things for $$ that > could be gotten for free. > > There was a suggestion about who to report to if you received > this info. > > Can't find it now that I need it----- does anyone have it to forward to > me? > > was the company familydiscover.com? -- Happy Hunting!! -- Paul Houston, TX, USA ICQ #73314929 Researching: VA - WHITE,LIPSCOMB,HILL,JOHNSON,SAUNDERS, TALBOT,TATE,EVANS NC - SMITH, BOSWELL, RHODES, CAPEHART,MORRIS, MARSHE, BRITT,SHAW View my American Ancestry at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~paulrsmith **************** Give away FREE major credit cards and create a residual income for life doing it!
