Hi Listers I am new to this List and to English research, which I understand is slightly different to Scottish research. I have decided to try to track down my Maternal side of the family and have the following. If anyone has any connections, or information, I would like to hear from you. William SHAW married Mary TAYLOR in Appleby, Westmorland on 2 February 1818. Children were: William (c 27.5.1818) Elizabeth (c 11.11.1821) Hannah (c 16.2.1823) Joseph (c 9.4.1826) *** migrated to Australia in 1853 - Married Ann LAMB on 2.6.1846 at St Michael, Appleby John (c 9.4.1829) Would SKS be able to look up 1851 Census for these people, please? TIA Janelle Canberra, Australia jcmch@cyberone.com.au
Posted on: Shaw Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/FamilyAssoc/Shaw/10253 Surname: SHAW ------------------------- My family bible starts with Rufus Shaw and goes back to his father and mother, Warren and Semantha Shaw. Warren Shaw was born in Johnstown, New York, in 1808 (Semantha, too: 1815). That's the only information I have on him, except that the bible says, "Warren, son of John and Persis." Yes, they very well could have had a daughter named after the mother. I don't know any of Warren's siblings. I don't know when they moved to Ohio. I know Rufus died in Mecca, Trumbull County, Ohio, but I don't know if he was born there. Subsequent generations were born, married, died there. Semantha died in 1881, in Mecca, Ohio. They had five children. The only listing for Warren Shaw's death was 1871, in Birminham, Iowa. I don't understand that one at all, and it may be a coincidence. However, I can find no trace of any of him in New York or Ohio. Tell me more about the Shaws in Ohio--when? what town/county? what names?

Indiana she married a Hugh Watt in Gibson Co. 01-18-1843. Do you know if your John and Parsis had a daughter by this name? I sure would like to find her parents. Thanks
