I was given some papers and they have Abraham Shaw b.1763 in York married Mary? children Marion,John,Mary, Samuel,Betsey, Abraham,Summer,Mercy,Joseph and Joanna. 2nd Gen. Samuel b. 1 June 1791 m. From what I have read about the history of Ireland Mike is correct about the Scots in Ireland. Also, during the plantation of Ireland in the 1600's (the British planted people in Ireland, not vegetation!) many people from England were placed in northern Ireland to have a stronger presence there to better gain control of the Island. Many Shaws from England were included. The best clue I have found is that the Scottish settlers were Presbyterian. My Shaws were Anclican, Church of England and kept that religion when they went to Canada in 1820. They apparently were always loyal to the crown as they always supported Gr Britain, even in the 1837-1838 uprising. Would be interested in any other ideas on this subject. Trying to locate B. D. Shaw married Sophia Hammond. Their son, William S. Shaw, b April 10, 1843, d June 11, 1902 in Afton, New York Wm. S. Shaw m Amelia E. Tracy, probably sometime in the 1860's. They had 2 children: John Dwight Shaw, b Aug. 9, 1870, Coventry, N.Y. d April 29, 1933, Afton, N.Y. Lottie Amelia Shaw, b Sept. 27, 1891, Afton, N.Y. d in 1970's (?) It is possible that B. D.
