    3. Hello Jane, Your last email caught my eye. I am also a descendent of Roger SHAW, so I guess that makes us cousins (along with millions of other cousins). I am a 10th and 11th generation descendent of Roger SHAW--he appears in my family tree at least 3 times. One section of my SHAW line is still 'temporarioy blank'. What caught my eye was your surname CAMPBELL. My ggrandfather was Jonathan SHAW, b. June 29, 1828, Chester, Rockingham County, NH. He was the son of David SHAW and Sally MARDEN. Jonathan had 9 or 10 siblings. #9 was Harriet SHAW, b. July 9, 1832, Chester, NH. She married a Deacon of the Congregational Church in Winchester, MA by the name of Robert CAMPBELL, b. December 2, 1826, d. at Winchester, MA. Since all of my New England families seem to be related, I thought you might have some information on this family. Thanks for any information you might have. 3. If you mean the Benjamin Harris (1673 -1716), the English bookseller and writer who was the first journalist in the British-American colonies, I doubt my Benjamin was named for him. Some notes I've seen say they were Quakers. Harris wrote "argumentative pamphlets in London, especially ones attacking Roman Catholics and Quakers" according to my encyclopedia. 1. [SHAW] Charles Shaw, Son of Samuel. 1840's. IL.
    2. Viola Seward
    3. My grandfather James H Shaw had a younger brother Charles Shaw whom i cannot find any thing on except he went to sea. Now my Shaw family came from Eng. to Ire. to Rhode Island to Illinois. In Bureau County,IL. Samuel Shaw married Ann Eliza Harrington in 1851. So all Shaw children were totally English. Believe all their children were born there. So have all spouses except Charles Shaw. Any one heard the name " Imhoff" in their tree as heard Charles married an Imhoff lady. Thank you. Viola.

    3. Yes, I would like to pursue it further. I almost missed James because I kept looking back toward NC whereas he had gone to Texas (his son -- my ggf -- married in Mississippi and stayed there). Later, my gf came to Texas and stayed in east Texas for a winter before going on to west Texas; I know now he was with his grandparents in east Texas. I hope that makes sense, it is not easy to explain. Now that I have contact with cousins in Mississippi, east Texas, west Texas, and NM, I'm learning that these guys went back and forth on what is now highway 84 fairly often. Horseback, wagon, and later by pickup truck! I don't have any Hugh's or Joseph's, but a lot of Benjamin's, Williams, and James's. 3. I'm pretty well convinced that Benjamin SHAW, married to Rhoda COVEY, is the father of my James SHAW, b 27 Oct 1786 in Guilford County NC and d 7 Dec 1866 in Kaufman County, Texas. He married Catherine ELLIOTT in Virginia. Two GEDComs posted on the web show this, but I can't find primary sources posted on either. I'm looking for some verifiable references, as well as info on where he came from. The posted info says Benjamin and Rhoda had the following children (no dates given): James William Matthew Sarah Noble Rhoda Elizabeth Aaron John My James had several children and named one Robert Benjamin and another Rhoda. 2. Hi Ryan I am not even positive on the surname Shaw. All I know is that Benjamin Welch m. a lady named Polly - this info comes from their daughter's death record. It did not give Polly's surname. However, I did find the marriage of a Benjamin Welch to a Polly Shaw in the York, ME VR's. According to her age in 1850 census, Polly was b. ca 1784. Benjamin Welch and Polly had a son Hosea Welch, he had a daughter Mary Welch who m. Timothy Smith, their daughter Hattie Smith m. Merritt Boothby and were my great grandparents. Any clues would be appreciated. Betty

    3. Hello list, I have been observing for some time and today I feel I should put in my branch of the Shaw line. I am fairly new and I haven't been able to get much from my Shaw line. Here goes: William Lynn Shaw b.October 1904 m. Bertha Irene Turner b. July 1904 I don't know when they were married. Bertha was from Paxton, IL and of English descent. William it has been speculated (I despise that word) was from Michigan and his father was a pastor. Of which religion I don't know. William met Bertha from Bertha's brother, her brother and William attended the same college. William also played football but, did not graduate from college. I am waiting for information from the SSDI and his death certificate. HELP?!! And that is my wall.
