    2. Hi Velma, Do you have a marriage date for Joseph Shaw and Sarah Marshall, this is the first time I have come across additional wife for Joseph..some of the children I have born to Rebecca Forbis and Joseph are apparently not all theirs! I have seen some of your information before and it has been very helpful filling in the gaps. Barb Shaw

    3. I forgot to mention that Joseph Shaw Sr. had two other wives: Rebecca Forbes/Forbis and Martha Wiggins. By Rebecca ( whom he married 30 Aug 1817 in Guilford Co., NC, he fathered Mary Malinda b. 1819, Sarah Minerva b. 1821, Nancy Jane b. 1824, Jeremiah (Jerry) F. b. 1826 (my ancestor) and William b. 1828. Their were apparently no children with Martha Wiggins, whom he married in 1867 in Fayette Co., AL (Sarah Marshall died in 1865). William was not mentioned so not sure if he had passed away at that time or not. I am sorry I cannot be more specific..looked at so many things. Would have been in early 1800's because was looking for Sheppard Shaw or Greenberry Shaw who were in the area at that time. Mahala and William do not seem to have any connection to my line..just remember her name and the fact that there was no adult male mentioned in the household. Hope this helps a little. Barb

    3. Travis, I descend from Henry SHAW, b. abt 1775 NC and Dorothy Ann BARNETT. Their daughter, Sarah SHAW married Tillman SHAW on Jan. 19, 1845 in Newton Co. GA. He was born abt 1815. They are listed in the 1850 & 1860 Newton County GA. census. After the civil war, some of Henry SHAW's descendants moved to the area around Gilmer, Upshur County, Texas and some are still living there today. I cannot connect Tillman SHAW to the family of Henry SHAW other than the marriage. Tillman is not that common for a first name so there could be a connection. I will put your query in my file and if I find any connection to yours, I will get in touch. If you find any connection to mine, please notify me. Thanks, Irma J. 3. Irma, Thanks for responding, I have also found Tillman Shaw in Randolph Co.N.C. that died at age 70 in Dec.1860,,,this was found in an AIS Mortality Schedules Index. .....meanwhile, I have found a WILLIAM D. SHAW that died in LAMAR COUNTY,TX in 1863... from a book called "HISTORY OF LAMAR COUNTY" written by A.W.Neville, p.129: 'Dr.P.W.Birmingham was called in for consultation during the sickness of William D. Shaw, who died in Paris(Lamar Co.) in 1863.' No age shown for him. also found in obituary that the Hudson J. Nance family left N.C. and arrived in Lamar Co. in 1869. ......so with "my" S.T. Shaw being born in TX in 1852, he wasn't on that wagon! I'll certainly pass whatever I find, on to you. Thank you. 3. I read your message, and I am also working on the Shaw, Morris lines and one of my Shaws married a Britt - so I wonder if they are the same lines. My Shaw line is Thomas Shaw b. Scotland lived in Edgefield Dst. SC and died in Bedford Co. TN. His son, Christopher Columbus Shaw had a son, Robert Charles Coatsworth Pinckney Shaw who married a Sarah Ann Morris. In the 1850's they came to Texas and their daughter Georgia married a Britt. If this is the same line I would like to exchange info with you. 1. [SHAW] Texas Shaw and Nance families from NC.
    2. travis cope
    3. My gg-gdad is Samuel Til Shaw born in TX, b. 15 Feb 1852. on later censuses, he claimed that his parents were both from N.C. I have just found him and siblings living with a older female that I presume is his mother. They are listed like this: Lamar County Texas 1870 Census 406-461 Shaw, R.C. wf 36 N.C. " S.T. wm 18 TX " J.C. wm 16 TX " S.W. wf 10 TX " R.E. wf 8 TX " Eliza wf 4 TX there are other people listed in the house with them, by the names Smith, Reed, and Dicky that are from TX and TN... Samuel Til Shaw married Mary Elizabeth Scott in 1873 in Lamar County,TX. They started a family and had several children. One of the daughters is Mary Francis "Mollie" Shaw b.1874 "Mollie" married Columbus A."Lum" Nance b.1865, they married in Lamar Co. "Lum's" father is Hudson J.Nance b.1818 "Lum's" mother is Caroline Matilda Shaw b.1831, Hudson J. is the son of John Nance. Caroline's parents are Tilman Shaw and Susannah ? They all are from Randolph County, N.C. I am guessing that "my" Samuel Til Shaw's father and Caroline Matilda Shaw Nance and her father Tilman are related. ? _____Shaw married to R.C. ? I have only researched Texas, does anyone on this list have anything on any of these people in North Carolina? I am happy to share what I have with anyone interested. iistravis@yahoo.com Travis W.
