Responding to post about Yates County. Bennington, VT Museum sent me a clipping of the Boston Transcript dated 9/6/1822, page 69, where someone was searching for a Shaw in Yates County. It reads: "SHAW, MACE. Joseph Shaw's only known relative was a younger half brother, John, born about 1784, died 1819 in Yates County. He married, about 1803, Susan Mace, born 1785 in Dutchess County, NY. As her parents moved to Yates County, it is now known whether John and Susan met in Duchess County or in Yates. John's ancestry is greatly desired. The only possible clues seem to point to Dutchess County, so will anyone having information about any Dutchess County Shaws of that period, especially any having Josephs or Johns in the family, please give it to me? Besides Lockwood, Joseph had: Sarah, Hannah, Susan, Polly, Laura, Timothy, Streeter, Harriet, Matilda, Samantha, Elizabeth and Chancy. John had Nancy, Hiram, Caroline, Jane, William W., Uriah, Emeline and Flora. Uriah and Jane are Mace names." Thought this might be of interest. I wrote about a well over a month ago to the head of Clan Shaw (the address I had was Gilbert, Arizona) asking about membership and didn't get so much as a note saying that he was no longer involved. If a Clan Shaw DOES still exist, I'd appreciate knowing it. Thanks. Jane Luise Shaw, 12th generation direct descendant of Roger Shaw (1594-1661). Hi, I am the last member at the Clan Shaw Society (I guess) and I am interested in buying the book "History and eritage of Clan Shaw" by J. Shaw of Tordarroch but before I buy it I would like to know two things. First I would appreciate if anybody holding a copy of the book can tell me if there is any mention about the Spanish branch of the family Secondly I would like to know if this John Shaw is alive and our present "Chief" as some of my cousins are in contact with the "Chief" and I think I can easily contact him but don't want to bother anybody else by mistake... I would appreciate any help. TIA Arturo Shaw ashaw@pt.lu

I'm looking for Donald Shaw, born about 1927 to William Shaw and Sydney Chitick. I'd love to get in touch with him or one of his descendents. I have so much family history I'd like to exchange with him/them. Bobbalee
Hi List Is there any possibility of Patrick Shaw having a sister named Prudence Shaw who married Findly/Findley Stewart. Prudence was born April 28, 1741, died February 28, 1821 and is buried at Alamance Presbyterian Church, Guilford Co., NC. Thanks. Teresa Coble
Elizabeth: Nicholas Shaw is my 4G-Uncle. He was born 28 Mar 1822, probably in Benton, Ontario County (would become Yates County the following year), New York. You can get my information on Nicholas and his ancestors at the Rootsweb WorldConnect Project: http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com His father was Sisson Nicholas Shaw. Hope this helps! Dick, I don't know, but I kinda doubt it. My great grandparents had strange ways of naming their kids. (Cy was my great uncle). They named my grandfather Fred Dinsmore Shaw. We have been trying to figure out for years where this Dinsmore came from. We finally figured it out. My great grandpa William Sherman Shaw was a mail carrier in Faulkner Co, AR. The man that delivered mail to their farm was Mr. Dinsmore. Now we are betting that uncle Cy was named after the milkman! LOL Actually, Cyrus' wife is still living. I'll ask her if she knows anything. All my Shaws were in Maryland, Georgia and Arkansas, then some of them went out to California. I still have quite a few Shaw's up in the Little Rock area.
