John Shaw came with wagon train from Providence County, Rhode Island to Bureau County, IL. in ca 1837. Johns son Samuel married Ann Eliza Harrington in 1841 in Bureau County,IL. Samuel was well to do man as he bought and sold land. But know nothing about our John except i found him once in another home and his birth year of 1815 and that he was born at Glossops, Derby, England. Samuel had sons John, Thomas, Francis and i think the rest were girls. But thomas never married and i know nothing on Francis. Think he went to sea. But John married Josephine Leech and moved to state of Ca. Cannot think of any more now. Except i have a picture of John Shaw Jr when he joined the civil war. Hello again Alice. I always ask the nationality as i have two Shaw families. One English and the other Scot. But my John Shaw who was from Derby, England had a brother George as well. John Shaw came to Rhode Island in ca 1819. His wife Hannah Wheatcroft Shaw plus two sons John Jr and Samuel came in ca 1820. Lived in Providence County ,R.I. till 1837. Then a wagon train of many families moved to Bureau County,IL. Young Samuel Shaw married Ann Eliza Harrington in ca 1841 and had many children, Will put first names i can think of. O.K. John, James, Thomas, Charles or Francis, Hannah, Hazel, Mary, Sarah, plus a few more. But Samuel moved to Stark County ,IL. in his later years. Died 1877. His wife Ann moved to another state till her death but was taken back to Stark County for burial. James Harrington Shaw was my grandfather and he came to Minnesota. But John and most of the rest moved to California except Hazel who married and lived in Missouri. About all i can tell you with out the paper in front of me. Good luck.
