Alfa, I am Geordie Shaw, genealogist for Clan Shaw Society. I have, in my files, a letter from a Ralph W. Shaw of Springfield, Mo. dated November 14, 1985 seeking information about the Mushaws, particularly, David, and a like phone call from Christen Santiago, of Kentucky. This David Shaw apparently changed his name from Mushaw to Shaw. Several years ago, I signed up to membership, two Meshaws from the Cape Fear area of NC, under the assumption that Meshaw was a shortened McShaw, or MacShaw. I would think that the same thinking would hold for Mushaw. To contimue this matter, please E-mail me at [email protected] and visit our website at www.cplx.net/SHAW Best wishes, Geordie Shaw ----- Original Message ----- From: "BILLY COPELAND" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, June 20, 2004 10:32 AM Subject: [SHAW] Shaw? or Mushaw? > Can any one tell me if the Wake Co. Hi Lillian, I don't think so...my ggrandmother Lida was born in 1874. She was the oldest of two daughters that Oliver and Nancy had. Albert raised Lida as his own. Thank you for checking. Julie
Hi, Julie, I didn't find much that you don"t have but a couple of things might help. Nancy and Albert Moe were married May 12, 1880. According to my book on Wahkiakum County. Then I find an Oliver D. Shaw in the 1910 census living in Tumwater, WA. He was age 35 & born estimated year 1874. Do you think that might be the right one? But this one says he was born in Washington. Lookups for Wahkiakum County. Lillian
Searching for any information on Oliver SHAW from Illinois or Oregon. He married Nancy Matilda LAWYER early 1850's. Their first daughter was named Lida Ann. She was born in Springfield, IL in December 1874. Their second daughter Judy was born somewhere in Oregon around 1876. I don't know what happened to Oliver or Judy, but Nancy married Albert MOE years later. Thank you, Julie Hendrix
I've "rescued" the wedding book belonging to William S. FROST Jr. and his bride Genevieve BODINE both of Lee Center, Illinois who were married October 12, 1898 at Lee Center, Illinois by Alexander Simpson. The marriage was witnessed by Capt. & Mrs. J.B.H. THORNTON, Capt. W.S. FROST, and Mrs. Harriet SHAW. Based on limited research I do find William S. FROST b. 22 Sept 1872 in Lee County, Illinois to parents William S. FROST and Sophia E. SHAW. William's spouse is said to be Jennie BODINE. Further it appears that William's father William S. FROST was born October 1832 in Maine to parents Daniel FROST and Eulalia STINSON and that he married Sophia SHAW in Lee County Illinois on the 25th of October 1865 and died in 1916 in Lee Center, Illinois. I find the FROST Family living in Bradford, Illinois during the 1880 census including William FROST age 47 b. ME, his wife Sophia FROST age 43 b. MI, with 5 children including, Frank age 13; Malinda age 12; Donald age 9; William age 7; and Adele age 2. Two farm hands were also included in the census with the family. All the FROST Children are said to have been born in Illinois, with William Sr's parents said to be born in NH and ME respectively, and Sophia's parents both born in NY. The wedding book includes a marriage certificate, the complete guest list, honeymoon trip information, a message from the minister, poems, the wedding ceremony, wedding songs, etc. I'm hoping to locate someone from this family so that this wonderful old treasure can be returned to the family. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

(Still) hunting for any info on Jeremiah Shaw with (possibly) a wife named Cora, who together had a daughter named Cora, born (circa) 1858. Both Jeremiah and daughter Cora were supposedly from the Norwich, NY area. There is a slight possibility that this is the Jeremiah who was 41 in the 1870 US Census but no 'proof' has been found. Little else is known. Daughter Cora married David H. Mills (1876-1878) and died in Syracuse, NY 1n 1933. They were my great grandparents. Bob
