    2. Ann, No, I do not believe Angeloah Shaw ever was to Valentine. Except maybe for a visit or business. Some of his descendants may have been in Valentine for awhile but none of the line I am researching. Angeloah and family were in York and Keya Paha Counties. We did not connect this time but perhaps next time we will. Thanks again Frank

    2. In a message dated 8/6/04 6:03:46 AM Central Daylight Time, [email protected] writes: Angeloah Shaw, my great great grandfather, was born in New York in about 1820. He married in Mary Delilah Sapney in Allegany County NY in 1842 and migratred west from Cattaraugus County NY in 1854. His parents are reportedly born in the United States. According to family records he was known with the nickname of "Angie". Angeloah died in 1918 in Nebraska and is buried in in NE. Frank, Would your Shaw family have been in Valentine Nebraska? If so I believe there are several pictures for this family at the Nebraska State historical society. I had requested some photos from there and saw on their list some from Valentine that are not related to My Nebraska Shaws. Ann Wilson

    3. Hi, List! I've used Family Tree Legends. It was developed by a cousin of mine, who sent me the software to try out. I found it easy to use, however, for those who do NOT want their information published, you have to remember to disable the automatic upload. I was excited when I first saw the cover photo on this software, as it was a photo of my great grandparents, along with my grandfather and his siblings. Cliff Shaw is the developer, and he can be reached at [email protected] . He is good about returning emails, and answering any questions you might have about his product. 3. When I was preparing to go to Scotland without knowing where either of two lines had actually lived, I got some very good advice from a friend. Perhaps it will apply to others, regardless of where they are visiting: Don't attempt to "find" ancestors unless you already know their names and at least a few facts about them. Rather, just visit the place, relax, and "soak up" the culture and enjoy the current inhabitants. After you return and do more research, many things you saw will influence how you interpret your findings and if you return later with more information, you will already know some people, how they might react to your new knowledge, etc. Every trip will add to both your general AND specific knowledge. And, if it turns out you were in the wrong spot, you will still have enjoyed it and learned from it. QUOTE OF THE DAY As for those who would argue that the NRA, and other Second Amendment advocacy groups, are overreacting by suggesting the Left's ultimate objective is gun confiscation, one need only to re-read Ms. Feinstein's declaration after passage of her 1994 legislation: "If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate...for an outright ban, picking up every one of them, Mr. and Mrs. America, turn them all in, I would have done it!" ----- Original Message ----- From: "Adrienne O'Connor" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, July 28, 2004 8:18 PM Subject: [SHAW] List of Shaws > Joe, > I would be very interested in receiving a list of Shaws from you.
