    3. i have a feeling we all have some shaw's in our line somewhere. my problem is that my shaw m. a baker. i have a james shaw who ws b. 10 march 1824 in edgar co., ill. his parents were joseph shaw and cynthia clemmons/clements. they came across somewhere aroun 1853/4 and settled near panther creek which is near forest grove, oregon. he had married on 5 june 11845 in shelby co., mo. to alcha katherine baker. dau. of nathan baker and jane clubb. they moved to freewater, oregon which is now milton-freewater they had two children named william thomas who married rebecca hoskins and cynthia jane who m. james nathaniel loudon and these are my gr. grandparents. upon cynthia's marriage to "that loudon bum", CYNTHIA'S father immediately disinherited her. the reason i mention this is that freewater, oregon was very close to the washington. after spending a few days in that area and finding cousins that i didn't know existed, i found that in many places the only thing that separates washington and oregon is a country road. i have found the graves of william thomas and his wife rebecca hoskins, cynthia jane and her husband, jas. n. loudon, and james shaw and his wife alcha katherine baker. alcha is a very uncommon name and i have seen it spelled alsha, aloha, and many more. the shaw's, james and alcha are buried at the old ford cemetery in milton-freewater. when i was there it was a disgrace. the grass and weeds were up about 4 ft. they have no stone but i have their deather certif. william thomas and his wife rebecca are buried in umapine, which is very near milton-freewater. cynthia jane is buried at the blooming cem. in cornelius, oregon and her husband james n. loudon is buried in the old scots cem. in north plains, oregon. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, October 15, 2004 10:36 AM Subject: Re: [SHAW] Elizabeth Shaw 1820 Mercer Co., KY > Would you by any chance be related to any Shaws in North Carolina? > > > ==== SHAW Mailing List ==== > To contact the SHAW List Administrator: > [email protected] > >

    3. Any suggestions on where I might look for Shaw immigrants prior to 1800? I am stuck on Daniel Shaw in Mercer Co. KY on the 1790 1800 tax rolls. He was in Mercer Co. with a Thomas Shaw and William Shaw so I am watching for info on all three names, "maybe" they are related. Not sure if he was in Virginia before 1790. Is there another variation on the SHAW name that I should look for? Shea, Schaw? etc.??? Susan (Shaw) Gardner

    3. OK, let's keep working on a connection. I don't do as much genealogy as before I started with LIFE IN THE OZARKS. There is only two of us and one high school girl who works part time plus a few sales people and we put out a 36 page publication each month. It keeps me busy. 2. Bill, I did some more searching and found the following in Bradford Cemetery, Troup, Smith Co., TX. G.W. Shaw Dora N. Shaw Charles F. Shaw Minnie W. Shaw G. Hubbard Shaw Corena Shaw Burns Fannie Shaw Smith wf/of Arthur H. Smith Arthur H. Smith Fannie and Arthur were in Troup, Smith Co., Tx in 1920 & 1930 with daugher Venita. In 1900 Fannie is in the household w/ George W. Shaw in Smith Co., Tx. George shows to be born in GA., in Oct 1842 Dora shows to be born in Tx., in Jan 1865 and they have been married for 12 yrs. May not be the same family, poss cousins as the ones you have. What I am really needing is Dora Shaw's maiden name, I think she may have been married before to a GAGE or had a son out of wedlock back in 1883 near Tyler, Texas. Pattie

    3. I have a William Shaw born in GA, as were four of his seven children. They later moved to AL. It is possible that your George Shaw is a nephew. I have information on some of the children, but none on his siblings or parents. Lula Holeman Co-editor of LIFE IN THE OZARKS Editor of PACKRAT GAZETTE www.gozarks.com/packratgazette/
