Who was Benjamin SHAW recorded in Salisbury District, Guilford County, North Carolina census in 1790 and 1800? My James SHAW b 27 Oct 1786 in Guilford County, d 7 Dec 1866 in Kaufman County, Texas was said to be the son of Benjamin; is this the one? Karen Willis of New Mexico told me: Benjamin Shaw, father of James Shaw is recorded in Salisbury District, Guilford Co., NC in 1790, 1800 census. He was a farmer and planter. In 1810, it appears John Shaw has taken in Benjamin's family--maybe John is the oldest son. James Shaw also appears here as between 16-26 years old. James was born 1786 in NC. He was a farmer and planter. He married Catherine Elliott, raised an orphan. Her DOB in VA Sep 8, 1793. She died July 17, 1875 and is buried in the Fox family cemetery in Kaufman Co. I'm still trying to confirm it.
In a message dated 12/21/2004 7:56:08 PM Central Standard Time, [email protected] writes: << Shaw's whose given name starts with either A or B... >> Alice Shaw (Alice Richards married George Shaw about 1799). They lived in Richland, PA. About 1820 they moved to Columbiana County, Ohio. She is listed in 1850 with son Samuel Shaw and wife, ANNA Eliza Campf Shaw. In 1870 she is found with daughter Rachel Penrose Shaw Reeder and husband Samuel still in OH. I have not been able to find a death date or place of burial for her..nor do I know parents. She is listed as gdau in the will of Jonathan Penrose and George is listed as a witness. George was married first to Rachel Penrose who died in 1797. Any clue would be greatly appreciated.
