Hopefully someone this time around will have either advise or a family match. My grandfather, Charles Ernest Shaw Jr, was born in London, Ontario, Canada in 1904 son of Charles Ernest and Annie (Barnes) Shaw. Charles Jr. married Enid Kate Radford in approx 1920 or 1921, they divorced in approx 1930. After the divorce, Charles Jr left Canada for points unknown. I find him in the Grand Rapids, MI city directories in the early 1950's forward. I've looked in the 1930 Federal Census for Charles Jr. and do not believe he is listed. At some point he remarried to Margaretta Reynhout VandanAout. Charles Jr died in 1987. I've located his grave and found him in the SSDI, but nothing from 1930's to 1950's. I have really hit a brick wall. Can anyone offer advise on how to locate after he left Canada or does anyone on the list have information on this Shaw line? Thanks!
Hi Alan. I have Robert Sinclair Shaw, buried in Minmi Cemetery, but not your Robert.... co-incidence but your post caught my attention. However, I have the Minmi Cemetery register and your Robert is noted there, as well as the funeral notice of Barbara . In addition there are accounts of the deaths, from the newspapers of the time, of the inquest of David, aged 17 and William Corner Shaw in Lithgow. Can I be of any assistance to you? rosalee ----- Original Message ----- From: "Alan Egginton" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, September 10, 2005 6:16 AM Subject: [SHAW] Robert Shaw > Robert Shaw was my great grandfather, born in Kilsyth, Scotland, in 1831, > the son of David Shaw and Ann Aitken. I am trying to find the parents and family of a ROBERT SHAW, b. 1800 VA. Has siblings named: George Washington Shaw, and Henry Shaw. These three brothers leave VA. and move to Howard Co., Mo. sometime around 1840. It is possible that they were raised in the home of a David Shaw. Bill Ramsey [email protected]
Robert Shaw was my great grandfather, born in Kilsyth, Scotland, in 1831, the son of David Shaw and Ann Aitken. He had a twin sister, Agnes, and his other siblings were Jean (b. 1816), Andrew (1818), John (1820), Matthew (1822), Elizabeth (1824), Ann (1826), David (1829), and Barbara (1834). Robert married Barbara Corner in 1853 at Renfrew Abbey, Paisley, and emigrated to Australia in the "Anna", which sailed from Liverpool, disembarking in Sydney in February, 1855. They settled at Minmi, near Newcastle, N.S.W., where Robert worked in the coal mines until his death in 1877 from English cholera. Robert's children were Catherine (b.1851), Annie (1854), Barbara (1856), David (1858 - killed in a railway accident in 1875), William (1861 - killed in a mining accident at Lithgow in 1890), Andrew (1863 - my grandfather), Robert (1865), John (1868), Jane Euphemia (1871) and Alexander 1874 - drowned in a shipwreck at the mouth of the Clarence River, N.S.W. in 1882). I would very much like to contact any of Robert's descendants or descendants of any of his siblings with whom I would like to share additional information. Regards to all, Alan

Sorry, I missed the letter M. My Mary Shaw was born in England (23 May 1816), migrated to Canada (date unknown), and died in Montreal (ca. 1889). She married James Arless (20 Nov 1837), who was also born in England (21 Jun 1817), migrated to Canada (date unknown), but died in Indianapolis, Indiana (24 Dec 1894) while living with his daughter. Could really use some help finding out more about this couple. Suggestions welcome. Mary Ann

I managed to get into that message earlier, but now I can't. I am not a member of Ancestry, but I do have a William Shaw. Also, the message you were replying to was a response to a message to me. I am not sure I ever sent the information she was asking for, so maybe we could correspond through my personal address [email protected] I will be glad to trade information. I see on Ken Linwood Shaw III's web site some information that is not an exact match but has similarities. There is no info given for parents of Ralph Shaw, so it is impossible from just what is given to determine if the two families are related. The Ralph info posted does seem to be an exact match, but no new info is given, other than a previous wife. Mary Carter's family is extended up two more generations though. Much info on this site is submitted by others, so all of it is not verified. But, operating under the theory that someone at one time was looking at something that made them think it so, and the geographical and name similarities to your people, I thought you may be able to pick up some additional clues there. This William B Shaw's family starts in NC not SC and winds up in Tippecanoe and Warren counties, which are near to Parke/Fountain/Montgomery. It says this John Shaw (grandfather to the William B Shaw listed there--there are two other William B Shaw's also on this tree, btw) was thought to be Irish or Scottish. There is some reference also to Revolutionary + Military Pension, but the dates do not seem to jibe with birth dates, though I could be looking at it wrong. Am looking for a grave site (headstone?) for a Daniel Shaw, who died around 1820. His 2nd wife was Elizabeth Pipes Shaw Harmon. She is buried in Missouri. Somewhere, someone mentioned that Daniel was living in the area that is now Danville, part of Boyle County? Is there any old headstones/cemeteries in this area? Susie Shaw Gardner [email protected] Winthrop, Washington (state)
My uncle found the headstone for Theophilus Shaw at the Baker City cemetery, in Baker, Oregon. One headstone for him and his wife Elizabeth D. Leachman. Headstone reads "Theophilus Shaw, Mar 13, 1795- Feb 3, 1874; E. D. wife of T. Shaw, born Apr 13, 1799, died Aug. 23, 1874" Theophilus was the son of Daniel Shaw of Mercer Co., KY. Not sure who Theophilus's mother was; his stepmother was Elizabeth Pipes. Susie Shaw Gardner [email protected]

I'm interested in information on Daniel T. Shaw who was born 18 Jan 1803 in SC. He was in Perry County, IL by 1850. His wife in 1850 is listed as Elizabeth (b. c1803 in SC). I find a marriage record in Perry County, IL dated 19 Nov 1839 between Daniel T. Shaw and Elizabeth L. Darrough. I have a bible record that shows that Elizabeth L. Darrough was born 18 Dec 1802 and states Elizabeth L. Shaw died 28 Oct 1856. On 7 Oct 1858 Daniel Shaw married Margaret (nee Loy) Darrough, widow of David Harshaw Darrough. Per bible records Daniel died 9 Oct 1875. Other bible entries for Shaw include these deaths: Nancy Shaw, died 15 Feb 1834 Jane A Shaw, died 26 Jul 1838 Wm. J. Shaw, died 4 oct 1849 Naomi B. Shaw, died 17 Sep 1851 I'd be interested in finding out more about these Shaws to tie up loose ends in my research. Thanks.
