    3. I found James Monroe Shaw (plus Alsa, Ora Jane, Thomas, and Harry) on the 1900 Butler County, Missouri census. Actually Butler Co. 1900-1920 is about the only place I've been able to find any of them. I'm not from MO so am not sure about the geography of the counties. Not sure where Randolph is in relation to Butler Co. James Monroe's birthplace is listed as IL but the children were all born in MO. I've heard my grandfather (Thomas) was born in Dunklin Co. but can't confirm that. Clarabelle Bassinger's (their mother, James' first wife) birthplace is given as MO but that's the *only* information I have on her. The family is from the Fisk, MO area in the last generation and migrated to MI. My grandfather (they tell me) was the sheriff in/around that area but ended up in jail. I have no idea where to begin to confirm that information and the extended family can't explain or decide what he was actually in jail for. Sure hope you recognize this! :o) D.T.
