I am trying to locate Carol Lee Moore (Mrs. Robert L. Moore) or her descendants. Ms. Moore wrote to the Charles County Historical Society in 1975 and 1979 seeking information on William S. Shaw, brother to her gg grandfather, John Anderson Shaw. John Anderson Shaw relocated from Charles County to Nicholas County, Kentucky. In 1979, Ms. Moore's address was 7791 Turlock Road, Springfield, VA and in 1975 her address was 128 Logan Loop, Ft. Sheridan, IL. Ms. Moore stated that she had come into possession of family letters dating from 1837-1867 written to my husband's gg grandfather, William S. Shaw, and his first wife, Millie, then later to William and his second wife, Innocent, addressed to Beantown and Bryantown. I am hoping to locate Ms. Moore or her descendants to obtain copies of these letters. I have been unsuccessful in finding contact information for Ms. Moore. I realize it is now 32 years later, however, I have had recent success in contacting another lady who had also requested information on the Shaw family from the CC Historical Society during this same time. She is now 82 years old and was very happy to hear from me. So, even though I know there is a chance Ms. Moore may now be deceased, I am hoping someone from Charles County will know her or her family and be able to provide me contact information. Please e-mail me if you have any information on how to contact Carol Lee Moore or her family. Thank you. Denise C. Shaw dmcshaw@hughes.net

I am having real problems tracing my SHAW family. The earliest I can get back is to my 4 x g.grandfather, Charles SHAW (son of James SHAW, a tailor), born c1820 in St Martin's, Middlesex. Rumour has it that the family were Irish. Charles married Ann PAYNE bornc 181 in Shoreditch, on 23 February 1845 at St Leonard's, Shoreditch, with a note added beneath the date that it was the 3rd. Sunday in Lent. For none of the descendants, including my own grandfather, can I find any trace of a baptism. I have been trying to find more for some years, but have hit a real brickwall. Any help much appreciated - and being a Londoner myself hasn't helped! Thank you - Margaret.
Margaret, I don't see any real connection, but our family has a James Shaw born January 1821 in Swine, Yorkshire, who married a Catherine Payne. But the family emigrated to Canada about 1830. We know little about James, and his Father was John Shaw. Good luck on your search. That town rightfully should have been called Shaws Station, as I proved the station existed in 1779-1780!Anyway, he came down the ohio river from either greene or washington county pa, near the mongolehia river , where he lived with the other baptists parties of vanmeter, and brown, and elliott, and others.
