    3. Don: Not sure if you tried this angle - but I see PEI connection in the next generation - son marrying a Duffy - I would check the Atlantic Provinces to see if you can make a connection back to Bruce - I have not personally found him in PEI but must admit I have not done all Shaw trees here to be certain. I know you do not connect to my tree. My family came Scotland to PEI then many to the states, Boston and Maine and Mass. I was abit surprised they had travelled so far. A William and Bruce do appear in Shaw file on the islandregister provided by James Shaw. www.islandregister.com in case you have not been there but do not see YOUR connection there either. Is it possible that Bruce was married prior to A Tucker? Could he be older than you suspect? gl sherri ----- Original Message ----- From: <shaw-request@rootsweb.com> To: <shaw@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, September 03, 2007 11:14 PM Subject: SHAW Digest, Vol 2, Issue 143 > > > Today's Topics: > > 1. 3. William S. Shaw stayed behind in Charles County, Maryland, as evidenced by the letters Carol Lee Moore had in her possession written from Joseph in Indiana back to William here in Charles County. Apparently, William served in the War of 1812 also, but I don't yet know his company or other information. His 2nd wife, Innocent, applied for and received a pension for his service. Sure wish I could find Carol Lee Moore and those letters! Thanks for Barbara's e-mail. I will try to contact her to share info. -----Original Message----- From: shaw-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:shaw-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Paul Shaw Sent: Monday, September 03, 2007 9:51 PM To: shaw@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [SHAW] William S. Shaw Family from Charles County, Maryland Denise, This is some of what Barbara has sent to me. She also has a family group sheet on William Shaw. I hope she doesn't mind her e-mail is heritage62@gmail.com My Shaw family came to Kentucky from Maryland abt 1816. I have no record that Joseph Shaw, b. 1786 came with them but he was an older brother of my ancestor Luke Lewis Shaw so he quite possibly came down the Ohio river with Luke and the group of people who also made the trip. If not, then he could have come earlier. Luke and wife Lucinda Elizabeth Tinney married in Adams Co, Ohio in 1817, possibly at the home of a relative. Luke and wife originally settled in Pendleton Co, Ky across the river from Adams, Clermont, and Brown Co, Ohio. Brown Co, Ohio was formed from Adams and Clermont Co in 1818. Luke and Joseph's younger brother brought their mother and four younger siblings to Kentucky between 1821-1822. The younger brother became a Methodist minister and had children born in Brown Co, Ohio. I haven't found three of Luke's older brothers in Kentucky and I believe they settled early in Ohio. They are: Samuel, b. aft 1786, Joseph, b. 1786, and William, b. 1793. Luke served in Capt. Samuel Raisin's company in the War of 1812. If his brothers also served, they may have received Virginia military warrants for land in Ohio. Denise Shaw <dmcshaw@hughes.net> wrote: Hi, Paul. No, I haven't yet talked to Barbara O'Nan. Pricilla MNU (abt 1760-1831) Children: Joseph (1786 twin) Sarah (1786 twin) Samuel (abt 1791) William S. (abt 1793) Luke Lewis (1796) Ann (abt 1795) John Anderson (abt 1806) Matilda (abt 1808) James (abt 1810) Note: After William's death, Pricilla moved to Nicholas County, KY to live near her son, Luke Lewis Shaw. William S. Shaw (1793-1862), m. Milley (MNU) (1780-1843) NO CHILDREN, m. Innocent B. (MNU) (abt 1818-1903) Children of William S. Shaw & Innocent B. (MNU): William Columbus (1850-1930), m. Victorine Lucy Willett (1862-1919) Joseph Berry Shaw (1854-1894), m. Elizabeth Kate Willett (1857-1916) Walter Millard Shaw (1856-1933), m. Maria Frances Hicks (1859-1924) Mary R. Shaw (1857-), m. ? Marshall E. Boarman (1954-) Elkanah Arosia Shaw (1859-1898), m. Virgie Eugenia Robey (1871-1958) After William S. Shaw died, Innocent Shaw married Dennis Gates (son of Elias & Ann Gates) in 1868. After Joseph Berry Shaw's death, Elizabeth Kate Willett married Robert M. O'Keefe in 1899. After Elizabeth's death in 1916, Robert O'Keefe married Etta E. Armiger. We are at a brick wall trying to prove the parentage of William S. Shaw, as well as his first wife, Milley (MNU), and his second wife, Innocent B. (MNU). We have found no definitive proof as to William S. Shaw's father's name (perhaps William, John, James or Josiah Shaw), but his mother is shown as Pricilla (MNU) (possibly Price or Fearson?). We believe they were all born and raised in Charles County. All of our Shaw family seemed to have attended St. Paul's Piney Parish Episcopal Church, and many are buried there. In my research at the Southern Maryland Studies Center at CSM, I found several letters written to the Charles County Historical Society in 1975 and 1979 from a Carol Lee (Shaw?) Moore (Mrs. Robert L. Moore), who was a grandaughter to John Anderson Shaw, one of William S. Shaw's brothers, seeking information on William S. Shaw. She stated she had in her possession original letters written by one of William's brothers, Joseph Shaw in Indiana, to the William S. Shaw family members addressed to Beantown, Bryantown, & Charles County, MD, spanning 1837-1867. References in the letters concern "Henry Bean's family, who is running Aunt Actone's farm, where is Cousin Betsy Shaw living, how are the Beans and Owens, how is Beantown and the tobacco market?" I have been unsuccessful in tracking down Ms. Moore or her descendants in attempts to obtain copies of these letters. If you know how to reach Carol L. Shaw Moore or her family, please let me know. I am hoping there are other Charles County families out there sharing common ties with our Shaw line that may have information on our "missing links." Please check your family bibles, etc. and please contact me if you have find any information you can share. Thank you. Denise C. Shaw dmcshaw@hughes.net

    3. Hello Robert, It has been awhile since we e-mailed concerning the Shaw and Bradley families. I am going to Vermont this week in hope of finding a birth record for Rebecca Bradley and family. Any help you can offer would be appreciated. I have looked through LDS FHC films for Jericho, clerk records, and the church records but found no record for her. I did find a lot of information on the Taylor and extended families through published genealogies. George Wyllys and John Haynes are buried in the old cemetery in Hartford and I have photographed their head stones and inscriptions. If there is anything you are interested in let me know. Rhoda Taylor was born August 24, 1755 in Westfield, MA to Eldad and Esther (Day) Taylor (birth recorded there). Rhoda married Daniel Shaw in Becket, MA (intentions) January 16, 1772. Rufus was born in Becket May 5, 1773 (birth recorded there.) Rufus and Rebecca had the following births recorded in Williston, VT: Sally 1799 Enos April 24, 1801 (my ggg grandfather) Ansan Minerva Julius Sally/Polly June 14, 1813 Dennis James Bradley was born June 15, 1726 in East Haven, CT. His parents were William Bradley (b 1682) and Elizabeth Chidsey (b 1692/3). (William Bradley's parents were Isaac Bradley and Elizabeth Darrish. Elizabeth Chedsey's parents were Ebenezer Chidsey and Proscilla Thompson.) James Bradley's father died either before he was born or when he was a baby. James married Sarah, maiden name unknown - but some descendents have plausible a theory that it might be Newton.) James died in Jericho, VT at the home of his daughter, Sarah Rood. (Sarah Rood's husband (Thomas Drakely Rood) was the person who married Rufus and Rebecca.) James and Sarah Bradley had children: our Rebecca, born in Shelton CT (birth recorded by church- youngest in the family) Sarah (married Thomas D Rood) Lucy (married a Rood) Joanna (also married a Rood) Hephzibah Mehitable Emma Joseph (married Naomi Taylor - our Rhoda Taylor's sister - and Joseph is our Sarah's brother) Elisha (married Asenath Barber) 2 more sons According to a descendant of Sarah (Bradley) Rood, James Bradley was in the shipping business in CT before the the revolutionary war. Herman Rood (?) said that James Bradley lost a ship to British attack in the revolution. James is also said to have sold land in New Haven to Yale U. As for Daniel Shaw, I have been trying to piece together information to try to locate his parents. The Williston VT clerk gave me an "unofficial" date of birth for him of 1740. He died in Williston July 1, 1804. The Daniel Shaw (our Daniel's son and Rufus's brother) is listed by name on the estate records from when our Daniel died in 1804. Daniel Shaw, Jr was "unofficially" born in 1757, which would mean that Rhoda Taylor was not his mother - and our Daniel was married before. He married Polly Woodworth. Now, an account in Williston says that Daniel Shaw was from Taunton MA. Daniel Shaw and Jemima Hodges were married in 1739 and lived in Taunton. Records destroyed by fire in Taunton, but a birth in 1740 would match up very nicely for them to be his parents. 1. [SHAW] SHAW - Halifax County, Virginia
    2. Hi....new to the list. I'm trying to prepare for a trip next month to Halifax County to do some genealogical research. My gg-grandfather was JAMES JACKSON SHAW (I believe he went by Jackson). I have found him in the 1850 census as an 18 year old (b. 1832) farm laborer living in Halifax County. I do know that he had a son, JAMES T. SHAW, in 1862 and his wife *may* have been SARAH STEPHENS (Sallie?). I've got a little more, but would like to connect with anyone also searching this family. 3. Lori, All we have on the Shaws is a baptised date for Malcolm ( 1847) and a marriage date (1869). The marriage was in Australia, but no location for the baptisimal date.
