My family is from SC and were slave owners in the 1800's. Have only traced my G-G-G-Grandfather, William Shaw, to Marion County, SC; born in 1759 but not sure where he was born or where the family was from. Rumored he may have traveled to SC from VA. His son, John D. Shaw had a number or slaves who I've assumed went by the name Shaw. This has been a mystery to me as I haven't been able to find my Shaws in the south previous to my William, or where he came from. Thanks, Dottie

My notes go back as far as Anthony Shaw, born 1565 I Ovendon, Halifax, England My notes indicate that Anthony V Shaw had a son George Washington Shaw, born September 27, 1824 in Brown County and died February 13, 1906 in El Paso, Illinois. I assume you know that Anthony V and Sarah migrated to Ohio in 1810 and about their movements, settling in Brown County. Anthony V served in the War of 1812 in the Ohio Militia. I have other notes on the brothers. I believe Anthony IV Shaw and M. Smith, a second wife, had a son named Sisson Nichols Shaw, born January 19, 1801, who moved to Michigan. We live in Michigan, but have no other knowledge of Sisson Russell had a son Calvin who would be my husband's great grandfather. That is where my interest lies. We visited Russellville several years ago and talked to descendants still there. I understand there is a lot of material in the library there also. Maybe some of us should gather in Russellville for a couple of days and share resources. Are you interested? The Family History Department in Salt Lake City has developed a new research support tool <www.FamilySearchWiki.org>. This resource has been developed to help make family history research advice easier to find and share. There are two ways to search the site; Keyword search or Browse by country. FamilySearchWiki is intended as an online community for family history researchers and those interested in learning how to be more successful in the search for their ancestors. This site includes all research outlines published by the Family History Library and many other articles never published such as the wiki material for Japan, China and India. Greetings from Australia Does anyone have any knowledge of this family? Elizabeth SHAW was born circa 1799 in Douglas, Co Cork, Ireland, the daughter of Hugh SHAW (a farmer) and Sarah MARTIN. She married Gustavus THOMPSON in Ireland before immigrating to Australia. Many thanks Pam Veenstra
