While doing volunteer data entry at our local library in Ontario, California, I came across this wedding announcement, which might be of some interest to someone on this list. Nancy Giles Lyle H. Purdy Claims Bride In Hemet Miss Vera Jean Sharp, daughter of Mr and Mrs. B. Z. Sharp, of Hemet, became the bride of Lyle H. Purdy of Ontario in a ceremony Sunday (31 Oct) afternoon at 3:30 o'clock in the Hemet Nazarine church performed by the Rev. M. M. Cahill, pastor. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a formal gown of tea rose satin with a white veil and carried a bouquet of white sweet peas. Mrs. W. E. Cantrell of Porterville, as matron of honor, was attired in pale blue taffeta with a bouquet of pink sweet peas. Marian Sharp, of Porterville, dressed in a pink frock, served as flower girl and Benny Sharp of Hemet was page. Assisting Mr. Purdy as best man was W. E. Cantrell, of Porterville. Miss Arla Sweet and Miss Iris Sharp of Hemet served as ushers. Music for the ceremony was provided by Mrs. John Corning of San Jacinto, who played "The Bridal Chorus" from Wagner's "Lohengrin" for the processional and "The Wedding March" by Mendelssohn for the recessional. Mrs. Mary Sharp, of Porterville, sang "I Love You Truly" and "The Sweetest Story Ever Told." After a trip to northern California, Mr and Mrs. Purdy will make their home in Ontario. The bridegroom, who is the son of Mr and Mrs. E. C. Purdy of Hemet is a teller in the Ontario branch, Bank of America. The Daily Report, Ontario, California 1 Nov 1937
