Bill: John was in eastern Ohio for a while,then moved to Western Michigan(Newaygo County) where he lived out the rest of his life.At least one daughter listed as born in New York. Several in Ohio.His wife was Betsey Davis. Children were Simon,born abt. 1829 in Ohio;Harriett,born about 1830 in New York;Amos, born 8/7/1832 in Ohio;Milo,born 10/17/1836 in Ohio;Frank,born 5/27/1842 Ohio(or Pa.);Mary Jane,born 1844 in Michigan;James,born 1849 in Ohio;Laura,born 1851 in Ohio. Most of family(children) were born in or lived in Ashtabula County,Ohio.As far as we know,only Simon,the oldest,stayed in Ohio.We believe that John may have been born in New York State. He listed Vermont in most documents in Michigan.I note however that a portion of Vermont later became part of New York or the other way around in about 1830.A river changed course and after some debate the item was settled.
