Back in June Sandra and Tom posted information on the Sharps in SC and GA. I am interested in those also. My ggreatfather, Francis Marion Sharp, said on his enlistment papers for CSA that he was born in Meriweather GA. He volunteered in Louisiana, but came to TX immediately after the war and remained in the Houston Co TX area until he died in August 1913. He received a pension from TX. I have no information about how or when he got to LA or where the family was between GA and LA. With the name Francis Marion, I would assume there is some connection with SC and "the swamp fox". Any one with this information or ties to this family? sd
