I have not seen the original will of Robert SHARP of Henrico Co., Va. My information is from the Magazine of Virginia Genealogy article, Vol. 30 No. 3, Aug. 1992, by Benjamin T. SHARP. In addition to the seven married daughters, the following are mentioned in Robert SHARPE's will: Son: Robert SHARPE Grandson: Langston SHARPE Son: William SHARP (his children) Grandson: Julius SHARPE Daughter-in-Law: Elizabeth SHARPE Grandsons: William, Isaac and Julius SHARPE Granddaughters: Nancy and Ursula SHARPE William SHARP's children were by his first wife, Martha, who had been executed in 1767 for child murder. Their children were: William, Richard, Julius, Isaac, Nancy, and Ursula. These children were brought up by William's second wife, Elizabeth, who must have been an outstanding person for her father-in-law to have named her his executrix. Robert SHARP undoubtedly had other children not mentioned in the will, either because they had pre-deceased him, or because he had already given them their portion, or for some other reason. An article from the 30 March 1769 "Virginia Gazette" mentions that in that year Robert SHARP was 83 years old and had "156 descendants all now alive." An impressive statement for any era. In his article, Benjamin SHARP speculates on the identity of some of the other children, especially Isaac SHARPE, who died before Dec. 1756, and John SHARPE, the executor of Isaac's will.
