    2. HI THERE! I too am researching the Sharp family. Your names don't sound familiar to me but my grandfather..George Sharp..had told us that his mother was a full blooded Cherokee as well! I can't find anything on this side of my family either and it's very frustrating. My grandparents lived in Ohio and I know my grandmother was born in KY and her parents died when she was young. Her name was Alma (Johnson) Sharp. I don't know if George lived in KY as well and married her there or if she moved to Ohio and that's where they met. I have heard that George's father's name was George as well. Do you recognize any of this? I don't recognize your names but I think it's interesting we both have Indians in the family. We're all fair skinned and red headed. Hope to hear from you soon! Laura (Sharp) Davis

    3. I am looking for Sharps from S. IL, in particular a Josiah Austin Sharp. Family records say he was born in Alexander Co., IL about 1872. Nothing is known about his parents or siblings. Rumor says his mother, too, was Cherokee, and "very mean". Josiah Austin Sharp married Martha Ann Coberly (sp.?) in Union Co., IL and had 12-14 children (not all survived). One of these kids was Charles Howard Sharp, my husband's father. Martha died (no wonder) in the early '20's and Josiah remarried, (?) to an Ethel Stokes. He made a living as a tinsmith and became quite well-to-do. The family moved to E. St. Louis at some point in time. All the kids left home as soon as possible; Josiah was an abusive father. Several wound up in S. CA. and one in Decatur, IL. Josiah died in E. St. Louis, year unknown. I am trying to find out if the rumors of Native American heritage are true. This is one hard family to trace. Joanne Sharp [email protected] wrote: > HI THERE! I too am researching the Sharp family. 3. Laura, Do you have any info on the siblings of your grandfather George, i.e. birth/death dates, where they lived in Ohio, where they are buried; any info you have would generally help us and help yourself. Thanks, Mary (Sharp/Sharpe) Harkins Calif. ----- Original Message ----- From: Anton Marx To: [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, June 21, 2000 5:40 PM Subject: [SHARP-L] REMOVE -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, June 15, 2000 10:22 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [SHARP-L] Sharps HI THERE!
