[email protected] writes: I believe your Anthony was a nephew to my Anthony Sharp b NC served in Rev War who married Margaret (Peggy) Nelson 1791 Sumner Co, TN. Mary I have been under the impression for some years, from various other researchers and from the Sharp Family Association files, that my Anthony had an uncle Anthony. Question is: Is your Anthony the right uncle? Or could he be a cousin? My Anthony was the son of Edward Sharp, who was living in Botetourt County, Va., at least by 1750 and who married Jane McClellan, daughter of a man who sold land in that area to Edward. Now according to some researchers, Edward was the son of Henry Sharp who was son of an earlier Edward Sharp, all of whom apparently lived at least part of their lives in this country, apparently but not certainly, in Pennsylvania. Edward is supposed to have a brother, Anthony, for whom my Anthony was named. This brother Anthony, (probably born in 1746 but I don't have that documented), lived at least last part of his life in Tennessee and reportedly was a military man, rising to rank of major. Edward also had other brothers, certainly one named William who was an executor of his will, and probably one named Jeremiah. I must tell you, however, that I have been in contact with another researcher who has exactly the same names in his lines and insists that they all went to the Carolinas instead of Virginia and HE can trace an Edward who does not fit mine. I would love to clear this all up. I am sure of Edward and Jane and of their descendants through my Anthony, although I have lost their other two children. If we can get together, please, let's do. love joan
