Hi Barbara, Where in N.Y. is your Sarah Ann Sharp from? I too have Sharp's in upstate New York, mainly Jefferson Co., N.Y. I also have a great aunt who was a Sharp and married a David. Bonnie: Did your great aunt have a brother John?My GG grandfather,John Sharp,born in 1804 eventually settled in Newaygo County,Mich.His place of birth is uncertain.We think it was New York State.Have not documented that to date. Charles, No my great aunt did not have a brother John. They lived in Ionia Co., MI. after 1860. They were still in New York before that. I do have 5 John Sharp's in my family dating from 1642, 1707, 1724, 1767, to 1819 for birthdates of them. If all of us keep comparing notes, we may find some connection. Barbara and all, In my distant family there was a Sally Maria Sharp, born 10 July 1810, baptized 7 Oct 1810 at Claverack, Columbia County, New York, daughter of Philip Sharp and Elizabeth Pickett. This family later lived near Baldwinsville, Onondaga County, New York, where Philip Sharp was a physician. Among the other children of Philip and Elizabeth, there was a daughter, Eliza Ruth Sharp, who married Jarvis Bailey. This couple lived in Michigan for many years, but later moved to Creed Moor, Texas. Other members of the family also lived in Michigan for awhile. I am trying to determine if a son named John Sharp (whose first wife, Armena Adsit, died in 1840) moved to Michigan and remarried. Back to Sally Maria Sharp - I have no further info on her - don't know if she attained adulthood even. Just thought I'd throw this out in case there was a match. By the way, the feminine name "Oriza" was found in the family of Philip Sharp and Elizabeth Pickett - a very uncommon name and a good clue if anybody else has an Oriza in their family. Bill Hull

I have a Sarah Sharp in my ancestry. She was born in NY to Andrew Sharp and Hannah Stedman who moved to Genoa Twp., Livingston Co., MI in 1837. This might not be the same Sarah because she was one of the children listed on their tombstone in Chilson Cemetery, MI.
