Dear SHARP-list.. I have a mystery for a Grt-grt-grt-grandfather. H.E.SHARP is said to have been born in Tennessee, date unknown. He married Mary Malissa GOOLSBY (b. 1839 in either Mississippi or Houston County, Texas) about 1855. H.E.'s daughter, Julia Ann SHARP, was born in 1858 in Ellis Co., Texas. I have read that H.E. was in Ellis County in 1860, but was not in the 1860 Census of that county! Also, I've read that his wife, Mary, was listed as a "widow" in 1870, H.E. having either been thrown from a horse or ambushed in Anderson county,Texas. Who was H.E.SHARP? I've love to trace his family back if I could! Thank you for listening, Kelly Paul Graham.
Hi Billie, I am also a descendent of H. E. and Mary Malissa Goolsby Sharp. Another cousin of ours and I have been searching all available records for the last 3 years. So far we have not found him in any of the places and records we have rersearched. His initials are on the death certificate of his son, John Edward Sharp. Julia and John E.'s sister, Lou, may have more information on her death certificate but I do not have a copy of it. There were Sharps in Ellis County, Texas, during the 1860's, but so far we have not been able to connect to them. John E's death certificate says that he too was born in 1860, in Ellis County. Families usually travelled together so I feel that those in Ellis County at that time are ours. I am excited to know that another cousin has joined the chase.
