Joan, I feel the dates William went to the Holston was prior to Sept 1782. However, I do not know that for sure. All I really have to go on is a request for pension from his widow. In it she mentions William went to the Holston River after serving several tours of duty during the Revolutionary War. She did not mention going with him. Therefore I'm guessing it was before they were married, which was Sept 1782. Can you tell me anything further about the William you mentioned? Respectfully, Scott L. Sharp
