Anyone out there with connections to John Sharp,born 12/31/1804.Died in 1889 in Newaygo County,Mich. Place of birth in question.He married Betsey E. Davis. They had eight children,Harriett(b. 1830);Amos(b. 1832);Milo(b. 1836);Frances(b. 1842);Mary Jane(b.1844);James(b. 1849) and Laura(b. 1851). After several years of research,we have not proven where John was born,or who his parents were.Would love to communicate with anyone who may be able to give a hint.Some people say John was born in Vermont.Some say New York. Some say Connecticut and some say Holland. Some have indicated his father was also a John Sharp.None of these people seem to be able to document place of birth or parentage. This is probably a long shot, but I can trace my Sharp family living in New York and arriving in Livingston Co., Michigan in 1837. My 3rd Great Grandfather Andrew Sharp (b. 1790), bought land from Josiah Cook Stedman who turned out to be a step-brother-in-law. However, of the two people who witnessed the transaction on Nov. 14, 1837, one was named Betsey L Sharp. I have been trying to identify Betsey (L) Sharp for some time. Middle initial appears to be different from your Betsey. I have no documentation on any of Andrew's siblings, but his parents were Richard and Leah Sharp. Janeen L.
