The obit below is from the Daily Advocate, Belleville, St. Clair county, IL. I have on file a letter from the Belleville News Democrat (which the Advocate became a part of in later years) giving me permission to post any item that would be of help to genealogists. Unless stated to be a different state, all references to cities, villages etc. are in Illinois. I have been reading the Advocate on microfilm through inter library loan for several years, having started with 1850. The name of the paper and the paper date are shown at the end of each article. Transcribed and submitted by Nancy Giles Past Grand Master Of Knights Templar Dies At Age Of 88 - Chicago, Dec. 23 - (AP) - William L. Do you have anything on an Albert Sharp from the upstate area? Cannot seem to find him anywhere. Connie
Sure would appreciate a look-up for ESTER or ESTHER SHARP. She married SAMUEL or CHESTER GOULD and was living in Hannibal, Oswego County, NY in 1820. They had 3 daughters under the age of ten, so I'm guessing she would have been born between 1780 and 1790. Samuel died in 1826 and she married (unknown) GREEN and was living in or near Fulton, Oswego County NY in 1846. Thanks, Ann

A brief look at this family was published in W. C. Sharpe's SHARPE GENEALOGY & MISCELLANY in 1880. This Rufus Sharp moved to Maquoketa, Iowa, where he married Lena Shrigley and had several children.
