    3. Dear SHARP-list.. I have a mystery for a Grt-grt-grt-grandfather. H.E.SHARP is said to have been born in Tennessee, date unknown. He married Mary Malissa GOOLSBY (b. 1839 in either Mississippi or Houston County, Texas) about 1855. H.E.'s daughter, Julia Ann SHARP, was born in 1858 in Ellis Co., Texas. I have read that H.E. was in Ellis County in 1860, but was not in the 1860 Census of that county! Also, I've read that his wife, Mary, was listed as a "widow" in 1870, H.E. having either been thrown from a horse or ambushed in Anderson county,Texas. Who was H.E.SHARP? I've love to trace his family back if I could! Thank you for listening, Kelly Paul Graham.

    2. Scott All may not be lost. I have a Wm Sharp in my other Sharp line. This Wm had a son Thomas that m Elizabeth "Betsy" Berry who's mother was Sarah Sharp Berry, dau of the John sharp I mentioned in my other email. If you're not confused yet, just stick with me and I'll eventually succeed...lol! Yesterday I got my new PC and for some reason all my folders are not in my documents. Don't know how long I'll be finding them. Have a feeling they may be in the old PC so I'll look in there. If I remember correctly my Wm lived in VA until his wife died. He was up in years but them he walked to Whitley Co., KY where his son Thomas and wife Betsy Berry Sharp lived and raised their family. Wm's wife was Ann Meek. (Pretty sure her given name was Ann). Should I get so involved with learning my way around this new Windows XP that I forget to send the info, please don't hesitate to nag me a bit by the end of next week. Should have quite a few tidbits to share......Lois In a message dated 4/13/2002 11:39:04 PM Eastern Daylight Time, SSHARP777@aol.com writes: > Lois, > > This is what I know from a widows petition for pension - my ancestor, > William > SHARP enlisted in the Continental Army in Baltimore County, MD. 2. Lois, This is what I know from a widows petition for pension - my ancestor, William SHARP enlisted in the Continental Army in Baltimore County, MD. I guess he signed on several times. After his last tour in Maryland he went to the Holston River in what was then NC (now TN - according to the petition). After arriving on the Holston River, he was immediately drafted for a war against the Indians. After fighting the Indians, he returned to Baltimore County, MD. and married Elizabeth James on 13 Sep 1782. Sometime around the turn of the century, they settled on Brush Creek, Casey County, KY (At the time they settled it was Lincoln County, VA) I think he may have gone to the Holston River area with his family prior to 1782 and came back for his girlfriend who he then married. I'm really trying to find out who Williams parents are. I didn't see any William mentioned in your reply but he may be a brother to someone who is mentioned. Respectfully, Scott Sharp

    2. Looking for William Sharp who would have been in the Holston River area around the 1780's. He married Elizabeth James in Baltimore County, MD on 13 Sep, 1782. According to the info I have, he'd already been to the Holston river area prior to his marriage. Thanks, Scott

    2. In a message dated 4/12/02 5:02:25 PM CST, Scott Sharp writes: > Anyone out there have any Sharp family connection to the Holston River in TN? > > > Yes, Scott. I do. And I need help with mine too. My line starts with Edward, who died in Botetourt Co., Va., in 1770. His widow and his executor, bought land for his sons, Anthony and James, in what became Eastern Tennessee, in the Holston River area. The widow married again, to a man named Kerr, and her land (received by grant from North Carolina) was in what now is known as Sullivan County. It was near that of her sons and also of her sister and brother in law, the Looneys, and her brother and family, the McClellans. Anthony married Rachel Ellison in Shelby County, Ky., in 1794, daughter of James and Jane Ellison (or Allison, it is spelled both ways), who died before 1800 in East Tennessee, in Sullivan County. Rachel and her three sisters inherited the land, and Anthony sold it in 1804 before he moved his family on to Christian County, Ky. I know James was living in the area, but I am not sure what happened to him. I would be happy to share the info that I have, and I would love to learn more!!!! love joan For this is the day that the Lord hath made Join me in rejoicing in it, and let us be glad!
