looking for a marriage from my g grandfather McCallum to a Sharpe or Sharp. Possible marriage might be in Ireland, around the Orange Section. I hear that might be were my grandfather's mother, Sharpe / Sharp is from. They migrated to the US and ended up in Michigan. That is where my grandfather James S. McCallum was born Jan 11, 1865. It sounds like we are talking about the same Thomas D. Sharp if the time frame is right. In my previous e-mail, I was only approximating the dates of birth, marriage, etc. of my great grandfather and grandmother. I actually only knew my great grandmother Sharp. She died in the spring of 1957, in Columbus, Ohio, and is buried in McArthur. Thomas Sharp ran a brick plant southeast of McArthur, Ohio. He too is buried in McArthur. As for my Shockey lineage, my name is spelled without the L,,,SHOCKEY. The original first of our Shockey line came from the Palatinate area of Germany, and his name was Christophel Schaake. That last name pronounced in german sounds like the way our present name is pronounced in english. The Shockeys landed at Philadelphia in 1737, fought in the revolutionary war and subsequent wars, and moved thru York County, Pa., Berkley and Morgan Counties of Virginia (some of which is now WV), then on to southern Ohio, and eventually merged with the Sharp family of McArthur. My grandma Sharp (Myrtle, daughter of Margaret Wilson Sharp) married John F. Shockey (about a 7th generation Shockey). That is a short summary of how I became a Shockey from the Sharp lineage. Hi; I've posted this before but haven't hit on anything yet. So one more time: Looking for ancestors of William Clay Sharp, b. June 3, 1803 in Virginia. On July 20, 1839 he married Louisiana Boord in Edar County, Illinois and they settled in Christian County, Illinois and had at least two children; a son, William Clay Sharp Jr., b. 1845, and a daughter, Virginia (Jennie), b. 1850. There are so many William Sharps in Virginia that I've had no luck tracing his family or where they're from. Any help is really appreciated. Elisabeth

Hi Prscilla, No I haven't, I know a distant cousin I found was conversing with someone with NJ, but I assume it didn't lead anywhere, otherwise I would of heard,;-) The census records indicate Pa,but its so hard to find anything past 1850, you know. I have been going to the DCHS but I still haven't found anything. So I guess I'm going to have to go to the Chester Co. All the records I've searched so far leads me to this one infamous Samuel Sharp from the Southern Chester Co area of New Garden and London Grove. There was two related Samuel Sharps indicated in an Ann Nicholas Will for her son and having the other as the excutor. I don't have any evidence to link to this family, so I'm not assuming as I'm one gneration (still) I think of finding out where in the heck my Sharps orignate from. I laught everytime I go to the DCHS because when I find a Sharp and its attached to yet another old name from this area, like a Broomall or Minshall or Mendenhall or like mine"Baker's" you can't help to see that we'ar probably all related any way! Hi Lister's, I've posted my interest a few time, but haven't made any connections yet! Let me put out a call to any Samuel Sharps from the East Coast... Is there anyone out there with a Samuel Sharp who was married to a Susanna? during 1850+- time period? Since I'm having so much trouble tracking my ancestor in Pa, I wondering if he didn't come from any of the surrounding States. Does anyone out there have specifically a Tamar Sharp?????????Daughter to the Samuel and Suanna Sharp, she was born about 1837/38. She married my Daniel Baker. I have more info, but instead of typing it out over and over to no avail. I'll email to ever is intested. I'm searching for ancestors of: Thomas Sharp, born in Virginia His son is: William Sharp, born in Virginia, resided in Fauquier County, VA William's children are: Benjamin, George W., Thomas G., William, John, Catherine, and Richard Minor Johnson (RMJ) Sharp Richard Minor Johnson Sharp, youngest of William Sharp's children, was born 5/23/1830 in Scott County, Kentucky, and passed away in Macon, Missouri on 3/15/1909. He married Martha Frances Dysart on 8/29/1860 and their children are: William Sharp, Frankie Sharp, Lola Sharp, Charles Dysart Sharp of St. Louis, Robert Emmett Sharp of Macon, MO, Lilly May Sharp English of Hobart, OK, and Mary Emma Sharp Stone of Seattle, WA. I would greatly appreciate any and all help in my search.
