    3. Hi, Connie I have a Eunice Sharp that is from Conn. and moved to Essex Co., New York and married a Levi Markham in 1821, she is also listed in the 1820 census for Jay Township in Essex Co., NY. I am not sure, but I have a feeling that it is a Cornelius Sharp, he had 13 children, I am trying to find more info on both people. Who are your Sharp's and where from. 3. Hi, whoever you are: :o) My husband's SHARPs began, as we know so far, with 3-g-grandpa Grandison/Granderson M. SHARP, b. 1810, VA (perhaps Pittsylvania Co.) and wife, Martha SLADE. He moved to Gibson Co., TN, in about 1840, then to Cross Co. (then Poinsett), AR in 1860. He died there, a state legislator, in 1875. The SHARPs then moved down to Lonoke Co., AR, then into Jefferson Co., AR. We live in Phoenix 'cause I lived here when Bill came to visit mutual friends. Bill came over to my house for dinner one night twenty years ago and has been here ever since! <gg> The bulk of his family still lives in AR. Fellow researchers Carol Crowell Hurley and Tommy Goodwin (descendants of Grandison's brother William) and I are narrowing in on Turner SHARP as being the father of Grandison and William. There's a couple of researchers who have posted on RootsWeb and elsewhere that Grandison's father was William, but despite repeated requests, they fail to provide the proof or to remove the mistake. (You know who you are, [email protected]!) I doubt if you and Bill are related if, as you say, your family is from the NY area, but it's still nice to have Sharp "kin" out there. :o) Priscilla

    1. [SHARP-L] Ota Sharp
    2. Susan Bays
    3. Hi all, I'm looking for any info on my grgrandfather, OTA SHARP. All I know is he married Iva Bevill in Waldron County Arkansas in 1905. He was 21 then. They had two kids, Colletus born in 1905/06 and Love Kathleen in 1911 born in Antlers, OK. After 1911 and before 1916, he disappeared. Iva moved back to AR. by the late teens. He MAY have been Native American, but this is only speculation, based on my mother's claims that she was 1/4 Blackfeet Indian. Sorry to be so vague, but he's a tough ancestor to track. Thanks, Susan

    1. Re: [SHARP-L] Scotland to LA 1823-
    2. Shirley Hardee
    3. Lyn, None of the dates match our Sharps....I have not connected "Scotland" with our Sharps (at least not directly...a researcher who has helped me a lot, states we are connected to Donavan King of Scotland and Malcolm his son, but I assumed it is from another surname that branches off the Sharps)...and, there are a lot of names that are not familiar in your line.....but....many of the names are also in our Sharp line. Even have a connection to LA. This is our line. Haven't been successful to go earlier than the first mentioned Sharp. Nor, do we know the names of any of his siblings: George W. Sharp b. 1801 TN d. 1897 TX m. Artemesia Acker b. 1810 SC d. 1891 TX. Children: 1. Robert M. Sharp b. 1835 d. bef. 1891 m. M. Nissa Herring b. 1834 AL d. ? LA connection comes from his son, Robert A. and his first wife Dora ( don't know surname) who's place of birth was given as LA in the 1880 Van Zandt Co., Tx census. Her parents were noted to have been born in KY. Robert M.'s youngest son was named Joseph. 2. Benjamin F. Sharp b. 1836 AL d. 1838 AL 3. STEWART A. Sharp b. 1838 AL d. 1900 4. Christopher C. Sharp b. 1839 AL d. 1925 5. George W. Sharp Jr. b. 1843 AL d. 1931 TX 6. Mary Jane (Mollie) Sharp b. 1843 AL d. ? 7. Elizabeth (Betty) Sharp b. 1845 AL d. ? 8. Nancy Ellen (Nannie) Sharp b. 1846 AL d. 1891 TX m. Middleton E. Deason Their daughter Velma Artemesia Deason m. Omer Harris...their daughter m. John Martin 9. Martha Ann (Mattie) Sharp b. 1849 AL d. 1890 TX. I guess that many people used these names during that time. But, it is still possible for your older James Sharp to be a nephew or cousin to our George W. Sharp. Just thought the name simularites were interesting and thought I would share it with you.
