    2. Sharp
    3. John Sharp was born in about 1804.We had other sources saying 1805,but 1804 is the predominant year.Location we have in our records showed Vermont. That could be wrong.Several of his children ventured into Pennsylvania for wives. We only have some handwritten documents for offspring that say he was born in Vermont. At least that is the interptretation of what was there. I started on our tree in April, armed only with notes from thje memories of my parents. So far,a lot has proven incorrect. Whatever is close,we can look at with an open mind.I am certain on most info on John's children on down.Only a few missing links. Thanks for responding. Hope something fits. Charlie Sharp. 2. Darrell & Nancy Giles
    3. Hi again - Came across this article while reading the Washington Observer on microfilm and though it might be of interest to someone on these lists. It is not the Sharp line I am researching, so I have no other information on these families. Nancy Giles Local People Attend Wedding A wedding of interest in Washington was that of Miss Ada B. Wardrop of Sewickley and Hugh Rodney Sharp, Jr., of Wilmington, Del., which was solemn-ized at 5 o'clock last evening in Shields Presbyterian church near Sewickley. The bride-to-be is the daughter of W. Miller Wardrop and the late Mrs. Wardrop who will be remembered as Miss Helen Donnan. Mr. Sharp is the son of Mr and Mrs. Hugh Rodney Sharp of Wilmington. The ceremony was performed by Dr. A. A. Hays, of Chicago, Ill., who, with Mrs. Hays, has been visiting for the past few days at the home of Mrs. A. G. Happer, East Wheeling street. He was assisted by the Rev. H. B. Brown, pastor of the church, and the Rev. Owen D. Odell, of Sewickley Presbyterian Church. The wedding was attended by a number of relatives of Miss Wardrop from Washington. Mrs. Robert Harmon Kennett, of Conway, N. H., sister of the bridegroom, was matron of honor and the bridesmaids included Mr. Sharp's cousins, Mrs. George Tyler, Weymouth and Mrs. William Jefferson Kitchell, of Wilmington. Bayard Sharp ws his brother's best man. The ushers were Lammot du Pont III, and Robert Harmon Kennett, of Wilmington; Edmund D. Wardrop and Robert Wardrop II,brothers of Miss Wardrop. Sharp at: [email protected] he was hunting a George (B possible) Sharp from Vermont. Have you been in contact with him? My line of SHARP's do not include the Vermont Sharp's. I am sorry. They are a difficult line to connect. I have often wondered if they are off the Hugh Sharp line in some way. Scotland, Ireland and then into Vermont and N.J. Sorry, I can not help. I wish I could. My almost 8000 des on my Father's Sharp line did not include any from the Vermont area. Ira Sharp Dennis Good hunting.

But I do descend from an Edward Sharp who settled in /Botetourt, Va., and died there in 1750. It appears that he came from Pennsylvania, and I and several other researchers have tied him to a Sharp line there that includes his father, Henry, and his grandfather, Edward, and several brothers and uncle. I have been told quite strongly that this connection is in error, that Henry and the first Edward belong instead to the family of Edward Sharp in North Carolina. What do you have on the antecedents of Edward Sharp of North Carolina? Thanks for your help love joan

I mentioned that book at a genealogy meeting a few years ago and almost got laughed out. It is notorious for bad information. I soon discovered that the information on our LOVE family was particularly bad. He confused a David LOVE of that family with a Col. David LOVE that was not related, did not live in that area, and was at least a generation earlier. Map location of their land was also quite a ways off. The John LOVE of Mecklenburg had married Sarah SHARP, daughter of Thomas SHARP JR. in Frederick Co. VA about 1750. Thomas SHARP left a Will in 1762 Frederick Co. His son, also Thomas, came to NC but I do not know if he ever lived in Mecklenburg. This line of SHARPs were Quaker, although Thomas III was disowned for serving in the militia. Most probably lived in Guilford or Randolph Co. Ted

    1. [SHARP-L] SHARP from Clark County, Illinois
    2. John W. Sharp
    3. I am looking for information on the following family from CLARK COUNTY, ILLINOIS. The information is only believed to be correct so far. GEORGE SHARP (abt. 1830-1877) married to ISABEL (he may have had a first wife named FRANCES). They had at least one child named JACOB SHARP (abt. 1856-1906) married to MARY ELIZABETH KELLEY (abt. 1853-1900). Their children were ALBERTA SHARP, FANNIE SHARP, OTIS SHARP, NELLIE SHARP, MEADE SHARP and ARA D. SHARP. I believe that Meade stayed in Clark County and operated the family farm. I believe all of the other children moved away from Clark County. GEORGE SHARP may have also had these children besides Jacob: JOSEPH LEANDER, NORA ELLEN, CHARLIE AND REBECCA M. GEORGE SHARP may have also had a brother named JACOB SHARP (abt. 1837-1896) who was married to SAREPTA J. Their children were LILLY L., CHARLEY, and POLLY. Sincerely, John W. Sharp

    3. Dear Benny, Great to hear from you. Our Francis said on his enlistment papers for CSA that he was born in Meriwether GA. He was 5'8 1/2 " tall with red hair. Mother said his hair did not turn gray even though he lived to be over 80 years. I do not know any thing else about Jackson or the others either. Someone several months ago said he was from Wm. Baxter's family, but I was involved in something else at the time and did not get back with him. Hopefully I made a hard copy and can find it. sd

    3. >Let me know if you want me to send you a copy of the Eron M. Sharp report on >Sharps in Mecklenbury, NC. > >Bill Sharp Several subscribers have expressed an interest in Sharps of Mecklenberg Co. NC, so I would like to call attention to a book I came across recently. Worth S Ray's "The Mecklenberg Signers and Their Neighbors" mentions many Sharps in and around Mecklenberg County as well as allied families, particularly Alexanders. Descendants who moved to Tennessee or other states were also mentioned. References to these families are scattered throughout the text, so interested subscribers would probably need to go through the book. So far I have not been able to connect these Sharps to my husband's line, but I think they may be connected. His William Sharp was born about 1790 or '91 in Virginia and married Sarah Sally HANCOCK, b. about 1799,NC. I do not know where they were married. In 1850 and earlier they were in Bedford County TN, but they may have married in Wilson Co. TN where Sarah Hancock's parents lived. I would like to hear from anyone who might have connections to this line. Roberta [email protected]
