Frank, My great grandfather Issac Sharp came from Indiana. Before that we believe he came from Vermont. My grandfather John Franklin Sharp was born in Indiana in 1857. I do know John, my grandfather had a brother Dave, no doubt David. Also there were Dan (Daniel); Will (William); and an Abe (probably Abraham); don't know that for sure. If you have any information and if we could possible connect I would like to hear from you. Isaac was married to Elinor ?? They came to Nebraska and Missouri after Indiana. Email me personally. Thanks. Jane Harding jharding@redoak.heartland.net
My grandmother, Carrie Sharp and her sister, Helen (Nell) Sharp were American Natives also. Connie
Kentucky an Illinois.Don't know where before Ky.but brought 2 children to Illinois in mid to late 1885 to 90. A girl Mary, don't have anything at all on her, a son William Henry, born 1878 to 81.In his obit. it gives that Wm.Henry was born in Casy, Co. Ky. but can find no trace of them having been there. There is Sharps there however they have nothing on a John an Theresa Sharp,so maybe they were traveling an just stoped over in Casey Co. for her to give birth. The girls name was Mary, do not know if she was older tham her brother or not. It is said that she carried the two kids on her back to Illinois. Sorry, I meant that for Cousin Carol. We are very interested in Turner and M. (Mark?) Turner Sharp/e of Virginia who, we suspect is the father of our brothers Grandison/Granderson M. Sharp and William Turner Sharp, who with descendants, migrated to NC, TN, LA, and AR. Our "ears perk up" every time we see the word "Turner." 8:o) Priscilla Wife of William H. Sharp, Jr. --> William H. Sharp, Sr. --> Thomas Henry Sharp --> Thomas Jesse Sharp, Jr. --> Thomas Jesse Sharp, Sr. --> Grandison M. Sharp -->???
There's that "Turner" connection again. I figured your "ears would perk up". <ggg>
Can you tell us where and when they were born? Carol Hurley
Priscilla- Aside from my George Turner SHARP that went by the name of "Turner" -- what "Turner" connection?? Thanks! Audrey and Bunnie- Sorry, but this is the limited info that I have. It is rumored that Captain John Winfield , Joseph Arrington SHARP, Elizabeth, William Thomas and George Turner SHARP/E are siblings and that their parents are George SHARP/E and Mary HAMILTON; however, I have no proof. Further, the story is that the family moved from VA, to Rockingham, NC and then to Bedford Co, TN. Cpt John Winfield SHARP/E 1822-1887 Summit, MS. George Turner "Turner" SHARP/E born bet 1829-1839 and died sometime after 1900, as he was listed on the 1900 Madison Co, TX Census with his son, George Marion SHARP/E. Son, George Marion (1859-1922) was a member of the Woodsmen of the World and has a marker at Ten Mile Cemetery, Madison Co, TX. Is there a way to get a member roster for the Woodsmen of the World? Thanks! Hello Ruth ,my Sharps is similar to yours, one of my Sharps was married to an Indian, but I believe she was a Blackfoot Indian or so the story was told, this must have been in the late 1700's or early 1800's. know nothing and can find nothing on them. sgtwendy
Which state were they in?
Does anyone have parent, spouse or offspring information for the following SHARP/Es that are supposed siblings: a.. Captain John Winfield SHARP/E m 1842 Amite Co, MS to Katherine CRAWFORD and also Louisa McGEEHEE b.. Joseph Arrington SHARP/E m Oreleana/Oleana McGEEHEE. Listed on the 1860 Amite Co, MS Census. c.. William Thomas SHARP/E (no details known) d.. Elizabeth SHARP/E m an unknown STEVENSON e.. George Turner "Turner" SHARP/E m abt 1852 Scott Co, MS to Cassandra "Cassie" Anna PUTNAM. Some of his family line eventually settled in TX. With appreciation, Kim Sharp Bourke
