    1. [SHARP-L] Sharp's in Mass and Nova Scotia
    2. I am once again posting this newspaper article to see if anyone recognizes the Sharp family mentioned. I have very little information on them. Peggy Mrs. Rebecca C. Sharp (Dec. 21, 1909) Mrs. Rebecca Chipman Sharp, 87 years old, died Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Thomas C. Buck of 57 Washington Street, East Orange. The funeral took place Tuesday. Mrs. Sharp came from a family all of whom lived to ripe old age. She had been sickly for the last few months. She was the daughter of Samuel Chipman, who served many years in Nova Scotia Parliament. He lived to be 101 years old. Mrs. Sharp's husband died several years ago, and she lived in New York City until three years ago, when she went to East Orange to make her home with Mrs. Buck who is the only one of surviving children. A sister of Mrs. Sharp, Mrs. Primrose, who lives in Sidney, Nova Scotia, is 92 years old and another sister, Mrs. Marshall Shebb, who lives in Massachusetts, is ten years younger. Mrs. Sharp had four great-grandchildren and four grandchildren. I have no information on Samuel J. or I. Sharp except he is mentioned in a Chipman Genealogy as marrying Sarah Rebecca Chipman daughter of Hon. Samuel Chipman and Sarah Pineo Gesner. He is listed in the 1850 census as living in Chelsea Mass. His age is 30. There were three children listed: Samuel born Nova Scotia Rebecca born Nova Scotia Mary Sharp Frederic Sharp Elizabeth Gesner Sharp b. Aug. 11, 1847 Mass. d. Jan. 30, 1940 married Thomas Corner Buck

    3. Bert, I was told by Joe Sharp that you are researching the Henry Sharp line that was in Lawerence co Tenn. I am sure this is part of my line also. This Henry is a brother to my Matthew Sharp. If you would email me I would like to send you a copy of an ad run in the Augusta Chronicle on April 29, 1797. Thanks Richard Sharp

    3. Richard, Do you have anything on an Isaac Sharp, from Vermont, Indiana, Missouri and then Nebraska? His wife was Elinor, possibly Howard, don't know for sure. They are my great grandparents. My grandfather was John Franklin Sharp born in Indiana in 1857. So I am judging Isaac to be born around 1820-1825. Email me personally. Thanks. Jane Harding jharding@redoak.heartland.net

    3. John and Sue, My Sharp line was also in Houston County, Texas. H. E. and Mary Malissa Goolsby Sharp (b. 1839) were the parents of Julia, "Lou" and John Edward Sharp. John Edward was born in 1860. Julia married Sam Wall and Lou married a Weaver. John Edward married Alice Victoria Allen and they had 14 children. Beyond his initials, so far nothing has been learned about H. E. Sharp . We do not know who his parents were or where and when he was born. It is thought by some that the H. stands for Hiram. He has not been found on any census records. Family tradition says that he was murdered in the area of Palestine, (Anderson County) Texas, before 1870. The 1870 Texas census identifies Mary Malissa as a widow. Any help with this elusive Sharp will be greatly appreciated.
