Coffeyville, Kansas (where I was born), sits right on the Kansas-Oklahoma border--in fact, there is a South Coffeyville, OK, on the other side of the river. There were certainly Shannons who moved to that area--my Nancy Shannon, married to James Adams, lived in the country not far out of Coffeyville from ca. 1880 till her death. She had a brother David, born ca. 1837 OH, and named a son (my g-gm's twin) for him, but I don't know any more about him. Nancy and David (and others) were the kids of Alexander Shannon, who was born ca. 1798, lived in OH/IN/MI in his adult life but was probably born in VA. I have some suspicions about his line on up, but no confirmation. Mother may have been Mary Thompson, but that's far from confirmed. Maybe a connection? People tended to go where relatives were. What do you think? Shannon Hi, I was looking at your information posted on Kindred Konnections and you have a David B. Shannon. Was his middle name Bennett? I am looking for my gg grandmother Hattie Lavena Fowler Mayfield Shannon. She divorced my gg grandfather Jay B. Mayfield and went to Oklahoma with David Bennett Shannon. They had four children: Catherine Lavena Shannon b. Aug 7, 1907 David Albert Shannon b. Feb 14, 1911 in Coffeyville Montgomery KS, d. Aug 11, 1997 in Claremore OK. Annie Precilla Shannon b. Jun 11, 1913 Hester May Shannon b. Dec 30, 1915 Do you think this could be the same David B. Shannon? My g grandmother Dollie Sanford searched until the day she died trying to find where her mother is buried. I too would like to find her. She died on April 25, 1917. Any help you could give me would be appreciated. Thanks again S Sequera [email protected]
