As I haven't posted this in a while, I think I will try again! My William Shannon, with his wife Katherine Shannon, recorded a deed for 395 A of land on Turkey Creek in Greenbrier County in 1787. The farm lay between Turkey Creek and Dropping Lick Creek about five miles south of the present town of Union in what is now Monroe County, West Virginia. They were there at the time of the 1783 Census. In 1794 they sold 195 A to Sarah Henderson. The next year they sold the rest, 200A, to Walter Neal, and moved to Tenn. They lived on the Clinch River, eighteen miles from Knoxville. Children of WILLIAM SHANNON and CATHERINE are: i. CHARLES4 SHANNON, b. ,,VA; d. June 08, 1852, ,,IL; m.
