Hello Shannon listers. This is my first message to this group. I shall add my Shannons to add to the confusion. Based upon my g-g-grandfathers death certificate, Shannon, James Ross...b. Geneva, Crawford Co., PA, 2 Mar 1860, d. 29 May 1932, in Falconer, Chautaqua, NY Parents: Shannon, George, b. PA...no other information. Ross, Betsy (Elizabeth). b. Geneva, PA no other information. My Shannons disappeared for a period of time. Not even included in the 1860, 1870 or 1880 census for Crawford County. James Ross Shannon, my g-g-grandfather, then came to Little Cooley, Crawford County, PA where my grandmother, Luella Mae Shannon (b. 1881) and her 9 sisters and brothers were born. I have not been able to document George Shannon or his wife Betsy Ross. James had a 1/2 brother, Charles Williamson who was b. 1853, so Betsy may have been married before she married George Shannon. Since your Shannon family is in the area, I suggest you look in the Corry, Pennsylvania area. That's Erie County right next to Crawford County, Pennsylvania AND Chautauqua County, New York. I know there were Shannons there. My father's name was Robert Shannon. When I was a baby we lived in a duplex house in Corry, Pennsylvania. The other half of the house was rented by another Robert Shannon family (no relation). The mailman was so confused he just tossed the mail on the porch and let us figure it out from there. That would have been in the 1940's. My Shannon family came from the Pittsburgh area and only lived in Corry a short time. But I believe the other Robert Shannon family had lived there for quite some time. Could be a link to the family you are looking for. Good Luck.
