Thanks! Look wonderfully promising! Linda >>> "Russell M. Reid" <[email protected]> 11/01/99 04:21PM >>> Linda, Yes I am sure of the 1843 death of Alexander Shannon. His will was filed in Rush County Indiana 4 July 1843. He did, however, have a son by the same name who, given Alexander Sr.'s 1795 marriage date, could be the Alexander you are looking for. If the father had children David and Nancy, perhaps the son did also. The children I have for Alexander Shannon (son of Thomas Shannon & Mary Reid) are: 1. Polly Shannon ca. 1796 - 1 Jan 1866 (Lincoln Co. MO) married 23 April 1816 (Shelby Co. KY) Thomas S. Shannon (son of John Shannon & Jane Reid) 2. Ann Reid Shannon 17 April 1797 - 12 June 1824 (Shelby Co. KY) married 6 May 1819 (Shelby Co. KY) James Shannon (son of John Shannon and Jane Reid) 3. Wallace Shannon ca. 1798 - ca. 1870 (Fleming Co. KY) married 1821 (Shelby Co. KY) Polly Finley (daughter of William Finley & Sarah Ramsey) 4. Nancy Shannon 5. James Shannon 6. David Shannon 7. Betsy Shannon 8. John Shannon 9. Margaret Shannon 10. Rachael Shannon 11. Alexander Shannon 12. Sarah Shannon 13. Thomas Brown Shannon (presumably by the second wife, Agnes R. Brown) Russ Reid -----Original Message----- From: Linda Eaton [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, November 01, 1999 5:19 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [SHANNON-L] IN Shannons--Shannon/Adams marriage, AlexanderShannon Thanks very much for the information on the Alexander, son of Thomas--I had certainly looked at him as a good possibility for my Alexander, who was indeed born in VA ca. 1798, but.... Are you sure of that Alexander's death-date? Mine (I suppose fortunately from his point of view) was still alive in the 1850 and 1860 censuses, where we find him in Branch County, MI, living with some of his kids (the youngest, John Alexander, b. ca. 1845) and with others on the farms (including Nancy, then married to Bartlett) surrounding. There's also another Alexander Shannon, born about 1788, living as a single man on another nearby farm--don't know how he fits in either. This whole group is quite confusing. Do you have a complete list of Alexander son of THomas' children? Thanks. Linda
