Sharon, I'm not sure if anyone has put the Granville Shannon family on record on the net. I mean from him through each of his children down to the present. Everyone seems to accept Dexal Shannon's account. There are some mistakes in it, as well as some other accounts. One in Dexal's that everyone has perpetuated is my Gr-Grandfather's middle name; it is May, not Malachi. I've tried to correct that but have had little success. Some of these folks would rather accept an authority with an error in print than a first hand account from a son told to his grandson. There is an error perpetuated about Granville's grandfather Billingsly. They want to have Mary as a daughter of a John Billingsly instead of Maj. James & Ann Rhea Billingsly, proven by his will. This happens when someone wants to find a desireable ancestor for themselves. This should've been a first thing to do for me when I got back into this, but I still have a lot to learn about how to do these things. This really needs to be done to stop further perpetuation of error and to get it on the net for future generations. If there is anything I can give you to help in this area let me know. I wish I could've been there when your mother got the letters. That would've been a real thrill. Mike
