I have a lot of information on my Scots-Irish PRESBYTERIAN Shannons. I have my lineage back to my gr-gr-gr-gr-gr-grandfather Lanty(possibly Langdon) Shannon born circa 1735, died 1797 in Mt. Bethel, Northampton Co., Pa. His line includes many Davids, Daniels, and Lanty/Langdons. My direct link is: Lanty Shannon+Susannah Daniel(Billy) Shannon+Susannah Hamilton David Davis Shannon+Elisabeth Bassett Mark Thompson Shannon+Elizabeth Miller Arthur Smith Shannon+Ellen Elizabeth Hicks Harold Gordon Shannon+A.E. McAllister(living) C.N. Shannon(living)+C.C. Mallard(living) Mary Ellen Shannon Nigh(Me) I have run into a brick wall with Lanty. I can't find out if he is our immigrant ancestor or if his father/grandfather/whatever was. I have been beating my head on this rock for awhile now. I found a history of Mt. Bethel PA that said that it was founded in 1730(five years before Lanty's birth) by 30 Scots-Irish families. The problem is that the book only lists 18 of the 30 by name. So I keep trying. Good Luck with your quest. Let me know if you think these are your Shannons. Mary Ellen S.
